These are the Voyages

Star Trek Adventures | Campaign

About the adventure

These are the voyages of the starship... well, that's up to you, isn't it? Are you a crew of newly graduated cadets, doing milk-runs in an old Miranda class? Or are you a veteran crew of old soldiers, recovering from the Dominion War? Maybe you're a group of Starfleet rejects, consigned to some barely held together tub doing second contact missions and double-checking century-old surveys. Whatever you choose, your adventures will be yours to share with your crewmates at this table - the many problems you'll encounter will be overcome with teamwork and ingenuity. Not every issue can be overcome with a phaser, your wits and your empathy will serve you well. Step into the uniform of a Starfleet officer, and get ready to Boldly go... or, perhaps just go. I look forwards to seeing what your voyages look like!

Game style

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

Rules as Written (RaW)

Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.

Additional details

How to prepare

Players will need a Discord login, and a microphone, as well as a device strong enough to at least view streamed video (the typical cell phone is strong enough to accomplish this). Any software needed will either be provided by me, or I will be able to help players aquire them.

What I provide

I will be attempting to make maps using the VTT program Talespire, available on Steam for free. Any additional visuals required will be provided via a private Discord room that players will be invited to. Ambient music and soundscapes are a pivotal part of the play experience, and I utilize an array of character voices to help immerse the players. Star Trek Adventures is a game made to be cinematic and empowering, so expect the play to lean into that. We're shaping a story together!

Gameplay details

We will have a shared Lines and Veils document where players will add in their preferences - a method that will be discussed in our Session 0, along with gameplay styles, story content, and expectations for the game overall. Safety tools can be used verbally, visually (if we decide to use cameras), or privately over Discord. After each session, players will be encouraged to discuss how they felt about the session, and anything they'd like to change in the future.
