About the adventure
"Two samurai clash on a battlefield littered with discarded swords and ruined armor, the dead number in the thousands. Sparks fly, these are the last that remain standing, the rest lie dead or dying in the bloodstained fields beneath. The warriors withdraw slightly, each taking a breath while the elements whip and rage all around them. They study each other as torrents of flame billow and earthquakes tear the countryside asunder, the inferno quickly quelled by tsunamis and violent gales of wind that could knock a grown man off his feet. The two warriors dash toward each other, each desperate to strike the killing blow that will end these decades of war. In a stroke of lightning, the rest is history..." -The Tale of Yun, Emperor of the Mists It's been a hundred years since the events of that tale took place, and a hundred years of Yun's reign has brought harmony to the lands of Mist. Yet even in this harmony, there is discord, the elemental spirits are beginning to stir again, and some fear this heralds change. But the summer festival is tomorrow and it promises to be a great opportunity for the people of Yun. Will you answer the call of the equinox and find the secrets hidden in these lands of mist? The Setting: The Land of Misty Mountains is a continent in harmony, comprised of four nations states and bound together by the great emperor Yun. Each of the four nation-states are influenced by my careful research of East Asian cultures from the real world, as well as having some original ideas of my own thrown into the mix.

Meet the Game Master
About me
I've been running 3ish games a week for about 5 years, and at least one game a week for 8. I love tabletop RPGs with a passion and over time feel like I've been able to tweak the formula to make a consistently fun and enjoyable game. I feel like the adventurers league games offer little in terms of gameplay rewards. With a lot of homebrew game design experience, I believe I have fixed that problem while maintaining the fun roleplaying and exploration aspects of the game. I run my own homebrew setting which I've developed over the years as well as WoTC modules, sometimes crossing over between the two when players want to.

Creating your character
Character creation will be an involved process during session 0 where players will collaboratively create their characters and tie them to the world and each other's characters with my guidance.
Every Sunday at 8pm CST
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need a working roll20 account and a microphone with minimal background noise, other than that I only ask that you show up on time or give a warning if you will be absent.

How Gwen creates a safe table
This campaign has a number of unique features listed below, The Origin System: allows a character to be tied to the setting during character creation ensuring roleplay opportunities that allow you to affect the world around you regularly. Unique Class Options: I have custom subclasses for each of the core classes in 5th edition D&D, allowing your character's abilities to be tied to the setting as well, though these options are of course optional as all of the normal 5e and unearthed arcana options are also available. Subclass Options include: Iaijutsu Master Fighter, Spirit Tamer Ranger, Oath of Enlightenment Paladin, Shinobi Rogue, Warlock: Soul Eater Patron, Wizard The School of Onmyoji, Yokai Heritage Sorcerer, and the Druid Circle of Mists The Mists Intertwine: Players may occasionally send messages to other groups playing through this campaign potentially affecting players who come long after yourselves, or groups who are playing alongside yours. Secrets of the Mists: There are many ways to progress your character beyond simple magic items and leveling up within the lands of the mists, but it is up to players to find them. Politics (optional): Complex political systems exist for each of the major nation-states of the Misty continent, allowing players to form allegiances, pit factions against each other, or even become feudal lords. I recognize these features are not for every group, and thus why they are optional. Storybox: This campaign features both a focused main narrative as well as sandbox-style exploration-based gameplay, a combination I've been trying to perfect over the years.
