About the adventure

The region known modernly as the Gravelands has been a hotbed for undead activity for millennia, ever since the wizard Tar-Baphon was slain by Aroden and returned as a lich in the year 3203. The conquering of Ustalav by the Whispering Tyrant, the subsequent Shining Crusade led by Arazni and the Knights of Ozem, the divine ascension of Iomedae, and more are all events defining this region of the Inner Sea. Over the last few years, the region has once more been thrown into turmoil; the Whispering Tyrant has freed himself from imprisonment, and Arazni has freed herself from lichdom and ascended to divinity. Among the grand events events however, numerous smaller stories take place. Families attempt to survive the hordes of the undead, and agents of the Whispering Tyrant enact schemes with harrowing outcomes. Claws of the Tyrant is an anthology campaign following 3 groups of adventurers through 3 separate but interconnected stories that will determine the fate of history itself. The first adventure will follow a group of adventurers finally seeing the light of day after 6 years hiding from the undead stalking the land in a survival-horror adventure as they try to reach safety whilst transporting a divine artifact. This adventure begins at level 1 and ends as the PCs reach level 3. The second adventure follows a group of Whispering Way agents assembled by one of the Whispering Tyrant's servants, infiltrating a fort to steal another artifact of divine might. This adventure focuses on more evil and undead characters, and begins at level 7, ending as the PCs reach level 8. The third and final adventure begins at level 18, as the PCs work to interrupt a ritual performed by a powerful foe, investigating an uptick in undead in the region and attempting to prevent history from being rewritten. The adventure ends after level 20, and PCs are recommended to be members or allies of the Knights of Lastwall. Each adventure will play with the following variant rules: - Free Archetype - Ancestry Paragon - Gradual Ability Boosts

About me

I am experienced game master of 7 years, starting with dungeons and dragons, and then gaining experience with call of cthulhu and pathfinder, my current preferred systems. I love to create and share stories with others, and enjoy working both with players who want to play a game to win, and players who are looking to share a story and get deep into roleplaying.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will occur during session 0 of the campaign. Players are asked to bring concepts for their characters, but with player character's already being somewhat connected prior to the campaign beginning, final decisions, how each person knows one another, and general backstory concepts will be done during session 0. As this campaign follows 3 different groups of adventurers, session 0 will go over the creation of the first group of adventurers. There will be a smaller session 0 prior to each subsequent adventure such that new parties can be formed, especially as the players get to know each other and their styles. Practically all ancestries, backgrounds, classes, and feats are available for use, however uncommon and rare options must be approved by the GM first. With the use of mythic rules, players will have access to additional feats, similar to the free archetype variant rule.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need access to Discord, internet, and a functioning microphone. Sessions will take place in a discord voice call, and will also utilize the in-server chatbox in Foundry to communicate. Cameras are entirely optional.

What Jeriko brings to the table

I will provide a full discord server for the campaign, as well as a fleshed out gaming experience using the wealth of tools provided by Foundry VTT. A number of additional modules will be used to enhance player experience. Additionally, I can provide AI generated character artwork for players who do not have an image they are happy with for their character to use. I will also be recording sessions for uploading to youtube over the course of the campaign.

Homebrew rules

Full list of homebrew rules is available in the discord. Most important one for character building is a restriction on the Free Archetype variant rule - Multiclass dedications and their respective feats must be taken in class feat slots. Free Archetype is meant more for flavor and fleshing out additional aspects of your character's story.

How Jeriko creates a safe table

All players are welcome at my table, though this campaign assumes that players will have a certain level of experience with the system and rules! Session 0 will go over peoples' lines and veils, and an open dialogue will be kept throughout gameplay. My goal is to ensure that players always feel comfortable in my games, and know that they can come speak with me if they have a problem or something they need to discuss.
