Fabula Ultima : Necropunk!! A Cyberpunk Technofantasy adventure!
On the colony station Ixion, only the gang known as 9-Lives have the wits and grit to a corrupt techno-mage oligarchy! Join the crew, join the fight!
About the adventure
Crowded streets built of dark carbon, ventilation and precipitation generators create the illusion of rain and mist, illuminated by glaring neon and holographic advertisements replacing the moon and stars. A "city" defined by a grand promise by her corporate overlords, where everyone is an employee and promised wealth and safety on a new horizon. A promise made nearly a hundred and fifty years ago. Not much has changed, with the corpo elite still sitting comfortable in their towers, looking down on the descendants of the desperate who signed their bloodlines away. Among their number, the only souls known to have been present at the city's founding, kept alive after death through the marriage of technology and necromancy. A "city" defined by a breaking point in her most neglected wards. Where once the veneer of a promise of a better tomorrow became more and more tarnished by authoritarian brutality and practical lack of alternatives, a desperation broke out into opportunity for the bold and the clever. Opportunity for crime to take root, where gangs formed and blossomed into a new but inevitable paradigm. Those in between choose to work, as per the contract signed by their ancestors. And they'll work, even after they've long since stopped breathing. This is Astra Colony IV; Ixion, a magitechnilogical marvel designed, engineered and paid for by the Zalmox-Dyne Group, a business conglomerate who participated in a daring initiative. The home world was no longer sustainable, and a proposition was made to take to the stars and terraform new habitable worlds. This initiative would require a vessel suitable to carry and sustain a crew who's number would rival that of a major city. And that would require a great deal of money. Nearly 150 years later, and "Ixion City" now orbits Planet XV2119, Nephele. The planet seems compatible with the magitech designed to make it habitable, but the process has had it's share of complications. To the point that "ethical necromancy" was introduced as a method to bolster the workforce, who would not need the same resources required for any living crew member to survive on Nephele's surface. Yet, that is little comfort for the ever expanding satellite of starship bound travelers who were promised a home with soil but most of whom had only life within the confines of Ixion. Powered by Fabula Ultima and planning to make MUCH use out of the new Technofantasy Atlas, Necropunk aims to be a mature game taking inspiration from sci-fi/space operas as well as cyberpunk stories and themes, and of course, JRPG's. Consider joining us if you enjoy Snatcher, Shadowrun, Xenogears, Robocop or any of that good stuff! And Ixion is a setting that's still growing and being defined! If you are interested in playing Fabula Ultima, contributing to the world, or looking for an alternative game to try, consider sending a message and apply to join!

Meet the Game Master
About me
...I swear I put it somewhere aroun-- Oh! Hello there! Have you taken a wrong turn or-- No? Oh, uh, welcome! Then. You must be looking for a GM. Let me just tuck this completely innocuous non-descript container that holds absolutely no mysteries and introduce myself, since you came all this way. My name is Jeff, in some parts of the internet I also go by the handle Teddy, inhabiting the Canadian prairies of Alberta. My TTRPG passion blossomed in earnest in my late teens and time at college, so roughly 15 years or so, and have ran games for just as long. But, between you and me, I've had an interest in the game for ages. See, when I was still a larva, my mother picked up a copy of the first edition of AD&D, and I have been fascinated by the concept of this kind of co-operative, interactive storytelling ever since. Recently, I've been bullied into trying to extort strangers for money, which has culminated into this awkward but hopefully fruitful meeting. Oh, no, please don't run! When I run my games, I try to make full use of my background in theater and creative writing to make memorable experiences for my players, and the stories I tell tend to be centered on the player characters and how their creativity and conflicts drive and contribute to the plot. My biggest goal, period, is to make sure that everyone is having a good time and feeling like they are in a warm and welcome environment. Respect and community make the foundation of my storytelling philosophy. Have I scared you off yet? No? Cool. Okay, so I have a weakness for film, and have played a lot of video games, but I have a toe or two in most areas of pop culture. If I don't know a reference that you're making, you can bet that I'll be excited to learn about it from you. As for me, in relation to my flavor of GMing, some of my biggest influences include; The Mummy '99 (and other jaunts of that ilk), a lot of the classic Universal Monster jammies, The Sting and other Heist movies, Star Wars, Avatar the Last Airbender, the Final Fantasy franchise, Bioware RPG's, SMT/Persona, world mythology, and basically whatever I happen across that I find neat.~ Kind of a vanilla list, I know, but I'm pretty easy to please, honestly. Even if I do have a habit of picking my passions apart and looking at them through a critical lens. I adore analyzing characters, plot structure and storytelling theory, and that inevitably bleeds into my GMing. I'll admit, I'm a little shy. As of writing this, I've never before asked people for money in return for my GMing. However, with the insistence of a very supportive group of people around me, and seeing this wide and wonderful community, I've been convinced to give this a shot. By playing in one of my games, you will have a GM who will treat you with warmth and respect, as long as you do the same for your fellow players. While my responses may not be immediate, you will have access to my Discord RP server and I'll do my utmost to be available to answer questions and facilitate your enjoyment to the best of my ability. So, all that said, uh, I hope this has convinced you to stick around a bit and come back later, and I'm eager to hear from you. Until then, or if not, then I wish you safe travels and many adventures.

Players say this GM is great at:
Storytelling
Creativity
Voices
Teddy is an amazing DM! His own house rules add flair to every character and campaign. I picked up one session with him and found myself in two more additional campaigns!! He is very knowledgeable and patient with new players, a pleasure to work with on and off the table. The world building is vibrant and thriving, every NPC has their own personality and voice, some will come with a backstory even. On the topic of backstories, he will absolutely incorporate your own characters backstory into the main story in some way or fashion. He not only brings your character to life but the word and your immersion sucks you in for another adventure!
Picture this- You're a new player, and you want to find a welcoming, patient DM who not only is creative enough to fit any character into the campaign, but listens, works with you and others, and has you feeling good by the end of the session. Picture this- You're a veteran player wanting to try out someone new, and you stumble across this god of a DM, who can still make a game you've played before feel like new. Teddy is not only a wonderful DM, he's one of the best I've ever had the joy of playing a game with. I've drawn friends into his games by singing his praises, and they've stayed because he's unlike any other storyteller they've had before. Truly a joy and a wonderful human being. His games can (and often will) bring a depth of emotion and growth that will potentially rock you to your core, and invigorate your own creativity.
Teddy feels like a true ally in building a fun experience for all the players. You never feel like he's an adversary. Npc's can be opponents, but he never is. He genuinely wants to bring everyone along for a great time. His voices are a blast, his storytelling and mood setting are on point, and he is well prepared from a rule and story standpoint. I'd play in any game he runs. 10/10 would recommend.
Teddy is a fantastic GM who brings great storytelling and settings to the table, as well as a sharp sense of humor and lots of flexibility and patience. I've been playing online TTRPGs with Teddy for more than a year. Teddy is great at synthesizing different playing styles and character interests among a group of players, making sure that everyone is engaged and "gets their moment" while propelling the story forward. Highly recommended.
Character creation
Creating your character
Character creation will be finalized during Session 0 as a group, following the guidelines set in the core rulebook. We're not just making characters, we'll be making a team! The primary character sheets will be made and stored in Foundry. Characters will begin at minimum of level 5. All classes and rules released in the Core Rulebook, High Fantasy Atlas and Technofantasy Atlas are included! The same will apply to any future content released in published material. Playtest material will require GM permission. Keep in mind that the Fabula Ultima system is built around multiclassing! When going over the material, go in with the mind set that the classes are intended to be pieces of a greater whole.
The initial players have, as of this writing, have no experience with the game but plenty of experience with TTRPG's and are eager to try the game! So there will be plenty of learning perfect for more players new to the game. While the setting has largely been figured out, there is still plenty yet to be defined. If you are eager to contribute to the setting during session 0, you're more than welcome! But at the same time, if that seems overwhelming, there's no pressure. Mostly, we want to run a fun and welcoming game while playing with the sci-fi elements introduced in the new expansion as well as explore an alternative fresh TTRPG experience.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
All a player will require are 4 things: - A reliable internet connection - Access to Discord and a reliable microphone - Access to Foundry VTT and forge-vtt.com - A good attitude! Beyond that, I do recommend picking up the PDF for yourself if you haven't already, and enjoy the game! The designers have put a lot of effort into their game, and more support means more of the game and resources for it in the future!
What Jeff "GM Teddy" brings to the table
Good to see you all the way down here! If you're still wondering on what else you can expect playing at this table, let me do my best. I try to run as immersive of a table as possible, providing character voices, evocative descriptions, ambient music and informative visuals. At the same time, I strive to provide a fun and worthwhile challenge for the table. Between the Rules as Written and Rule of Cool, I lean more towards the latter but you can expect a style that lands between the two. My goal is for us to work together to tell an amazing story, and the game's rules serve as our framework to accomplish just that! To the table, I am bringing: - Access to the rules necessary to play the game. - Custom built game spaces on Foundry VTT and our boosted Discord server. (Sometimes we do other fun community stuff in the Discord server, too!) - After 5 sessions, you'll be entitled to FREE portrait illustration of your character courtesy of @meeshay_QOB.

Safety
How Jeff "GM Teddy" creates a safe table
Player safety is my top priority as your GM, and of course fun is a very close second. Our safety tools will be discussed during our Session 0 to ensure that every player is aware and informed about those tools. Session 0 may take multiple sessions, due to Fabula Ultima's world building design. While recruiting for players, we will conduct world building Session 0's and have our "official" Session 0 once we have our minimum player count. Session 0's are totally free of charge. My own Lines & Veils, and subsequently those specified by the group as a whole, will be included in the game and accessible on the game's landing page. An X-Card system will be included. An anonymous safety checklist will be shared upon signing up via Google Forms. Session structure typically progresses like this: - The starting 15 minutes are set aside for players to comfortable settle in to the game. If all players are present and ready before then, we begin the session in earnest! - Session's begin with a recap of the previous session. Often, I will ask that a player provide the quick recap, and provide small in game rewards for accuracy and energy. - We will take a break as a group roughly 2 hours into session. This break is a minimum of 10 minutes, and a maximum of 15 before session resumes. - After session concludes, we reserve roughly 15 minutes to answer questions, clarify events or elements of the session, and/or bring up other news or concerns. Regarding the aforementioned content warnings and age rating; those listed above are most likely to be in play, but are not restricted to those content warnings or limited to 14-17 age limits. Those previously mentioned are meant to serve as more of a base line, and the age rating is the default game state. However, due to Fabula Ultima's design that gives the players significant agency in building the story and world, the true rating and involved content will be determined by and tailored to our discussion during Session 0. For example, I'm personally more used to running 18+ games. If all players that have signed up are 18+ and comfortable with mature content, we'll most likely play with that mindset and content in mind for example.
