Curse of Strahd! Roleplay, Combat, Gothic Horror! Wednesdays
Curse of Strahd is an adventure of horror and despair where evil rises to tempt the party.
About the adventure
Enter the domain of Strahd in a valley far from home. A place shrouded in mist where the sun does not touch a group of adventurers must fight and explore to survive the horrors of the night. What are you to do when you don’t know who to trust? When every person you meet has their own motives? Will you survive? Or will you perish to the curse of strahd? This adventure is a game that runs up to or past a year. I am an experienced dm that has ran this game twice before and use many added material both story element wise as well as: Improved map work, sound effects, Theatre of the Mind art pieces, and improved handouts all to provide a better and much improved experience. I have enough time spent delving into this adventure to be able to assist the players in making a character that not only fits into the setting but ensures that their character is tied into the story where they will each find a portion of the story directly tied to their background.

Link is a great DM to play with. I have another professional DM who has been working much longer than Link but to be frank I actually have more fun in Link’s games. He is a down to earth guy and makes the games interesting by adding in customizations agreed on by the party. Being able to meet his other players in different games has also allowed all of us to make more connections and enjoy the game of DnD even more.
Alright, so I'm only moderately traumatized...and I might just be addicted to the pain. I've been playing a game with Link for the last year and, honestly, it is one of my favorite story based experiences of my life. We've been playing Curse of Strahd, and umm, LInk might be too good at being a manipulating evil bastard. With Link, it has truly been a pleasure being constantly worried my character is going to either die, be cursed, or worst of all, fail yet again to succeed when he is most needed. Somehow, Link has made me enjoy this torture, both by bringing the story to life with amazing characterization and in his accursed ability to give my party just enough rope to hang ourselves. This is perhaps Link's one great skill (among his many other GMing talents), and is the reason that it is so worthwhile playing with him. You will never feel like you have been pushed into the bad situations you've managed to get yourself into...instead, you will always feel like the depths of despair you have found are somehow mostly of your own making. And when we do actually succeed? Well, that feels even more amazing...and is thus far almost always been followed by being drawn deeper in by finding something else going out of control. It is psychologically draining in all the best ways...and I've written pages and pages of character interactions because I've been so invested in the world that Link built around us. I can't recommend the experience more.
Playing Curse of Strahd under DM Link's guidance has been an absolutely incredible experience! Link is a fantastic DM who masterfully balances understanding and helpfulness with the ability to weave serious themes into genuinely fun gameplay. His storytelling prowess, complete with great voices and an innate knack for keeping everyone engaged, really shines. Even in the most serious moments, our party enjoys great times, largely thanks to Link's expert handling of the game dynamics. Link is not only super chill and fun but also incredibly knowledgeable, ensuring that each player gets their moment in the spotlight. This campaign has been the best I've ever been a part of, making Link the best DM I've encountered across any TTRPG. I would definitely recommend playing in one of his campaigns. If I could rate it more than perfect, I would. 20/10!
Link is an awesome DM and a fantastic person. I have been in his Curse of Strahd campaign for a few months and it is the best campaign I have ever played. Coming in as a relatively inexperienced player, Link made the mechanics accessible while building a world rich with detail and opportunities for different playstyles. He builds charming NPCs and stays flexible to accommodate what each player wants to do in a session, and he creates long-term plans that allow for unique character development for each member of the party. Above all, Link cares deeply about building strong relationships between his players—he interviews each potential party member to ensure their playstyle and personality fits in well with the group, and he goes out of his way to make sure that everyone feels comfortable and cared for, as well as makes adjustments to suit the group's schedule. You couldn't ask for a better DM.
I’ve had the pleasure of playing in Link’s P&B campaign, and I can confidently say he’s a top-tier GM. The storytelling is immersive, filled with rich lore, and tailored to keep players engaged at every turn. Link has a talent for weaving epic narratives while allowing players the freedom to shape the world through their choices.
Character creation
Creating your character
We will discuss during session 0 how I like to work with each player for character creation as well as between sessions. I am fairly available between sessions to discuss these options. The main break down for creation rules is thus: Stats- Standard Array Level- 1 Feat- One free Racial prerequisite feat. Magic Items- One uncommon to be discussed.
I would like to welcome you into the most atmospheric and immersive D&D campaign ever created. It’s called Curse of Strahd, and it’s the most highly rated Fifth Edition campaign that exists. It’s inspired by Bram Stoker’s Dracula and all of the horror novels and movies about Transylvania and werewolves and ghosts and the Romani people that evolved from Stoker’s masterpiece, updated for roleplaying in modern times. It is not, however, a hack-and-slash campaign, or an endless dungeon-delving campaign. There are no dragons or beholders or Underdark adventures. There’s virtually no treasure, because acquiring wealth is not a goal. Life is the goal. Ending the eternal darkness is the goal. CoS is set in a mountainous eastern-European-like settling inhabited almost entirely by humans. And their nightmares. The campaign goes up to about 11th level. It does not feature or reward the intricacies of game mechanics. It’s a deeply narrative tale of horror and woe that rewards roleplaying and character immersion. It’s about as emotional an experience as you’ll find in any roleplaying game. The setting explores fear and isolation and a deep sense of impending doom. It features the story about a handful of good people who undertake the nearly hopeless fight to rekindle hope in a cursed land. Trigger warnings include a central theme of abusive male behavior, forced marriage and , child abuse, child death, massacre and genocide, body horror, torture themes, humans eating humans, demonic-like influences over mortals, and other potentially volatile topics we should discuss and set rules for in advance. All can be downplayed to accommodate the players’ desires except for a storyline involving threats to force a human into an unwanted marriage. If you aren’t disturbed by most modern horror movies, you will likely not be distressed by the campaign’s horror themes, but discussing and setting borders up front is crucial. This is a campaign that discards D&D’s usual assumptions that the odds of prevailing are in the the PC’s favor. It’s dark and gritty. Its focused on diplomacy and guile and human interaction as much as it does in combat and magic. You may be the good guys, but your status as future heroes is very much in doubt. Some if not all of you will die before it’s over. For some of you, the best you will likely be able to achieve is dying well. And death here is not necessarily as simple as sniffing out the candle. The campaign’s lethality level and nightmarish mood feels as close to a Call of Cthulhu scenario as D&D gets. But CoS more than makes up for this by being also as immersive as D&D gets. If plunging into the mists of a Transylvanian mystery where dark is more dark than people of today understand, where monsters have teeth and hunger for all you have, and hope is slim and faltering, but you are also likely to be the only hope there will ever be, this adventure is for you. Join me in the dark. You will never forget what happens.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Having a decent mic and good internet is a must and having a plan to discuss your character with me and being willing to work with me to fit them into the setting! I am a dm who likes to ensure each character has a rounded personality as this game is a heavier roleplay game and having a well rounded character will be vital.
What Keegan (link) brings to the table
I provide books through roll20 to be shared with the party as well as crafted homebrew options that I’ve play tested in past games. I am a dm that prefers to play with rule of cool and have a well enough knowledge of the 5 e mechanics to help correlate what the player would like to do in game and make it work within the mechanics or outside the mechanics in a way it dosent break the game.

We will have an open discussion of lines and veils while I keep a note of what each person informs me to help determine if this game is best for you. I will discuss each element that may be introduced to the game as well as the degree in which these elements will be within the setting. We will also discuss expectations for the game and how each of us will be expected to act to ensure each of us are having a fun experience.
