About the adventure
The rolling mists of Barovia claim another party of adventurers as they descend into the realm of Countess Strahdanya von Zarovich. Danger lies around every corner in this unforgiving land. Vampires, demons, and werewolves rove the dark forests. Villagers huddle in their homes around dying fires for safety. And above it all the eternal vampiric warlord Strahd watches from the spires of castle Ravenloft. Will you free this land from its dismal fate or will your souls join the rest at the feet of the Countess? Curse of Strahd(anya) is a gothic horror D&D campaign meant for mature players. It is a sandbox format set entirely within the valley of Barovia, a land held captive by the vampire Strahdanya von Zarovich. Players can discover this land in any order they choose while still getting the experience of the overarching plot as you are pitted against the first of vampires herself. Most of the game is roleplay-based but there will also be difficult combat so players of all types can enjoy. All are welcome and I can't wait to start playing!

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hi everyone! My name is Dakota (she/her). I am a 22 year-old trans woman from New England, USA and I would be honored to be your GM. I've been playing TTRPGs such as D&D 5e, Pathfinder 2e, and VtM ever since I was old enough to sit at the table, and have since gained a few years of experience under my belt as both GM and player. My mother is an author and from her I got a love for storytelling and the fantastical; this feeds into how I run my games. My main goal is to tell a story, a tales of complex player characters that grow and develop as people instead of just as a vessel for combat (though combat is, of course, always fun when the system allows). I want to help guide you and your PC through worlds that are not only a fun place to slay dragons but to show off your creativity!

I cannot mention enough how great my session was with Dakota! We decided to fight a literal God tier beast and we won rather quickly ( good character planning on the other players behalf) but because it happened so fast and how professional the DM was, our fun didn't end just there! We were given a challenge for our entire team to figure out with more monsters. The ability to perform improvisation that Dakota performed was unmatched. Dakota's light personality also made a really good culture to perform silly antics as well as give guiding advice for newer characters (my friend and I). It was a money well spent and a weekend night well played!
Character creation
Creating your character
Characters will begin at level 3 and will be created prior to Session 1. Milestone leveling will be used, so that as characters overcome certain challenges or progress in questlines they will become stronger. All official D&D source material is approved.
Every Saturday at 7pm EST
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players should have a Roll20 account, a discord account, and a decent quality microphone to communicate over discord. Webcam is optional. I will also ask that players have an image to represent your character (it can be a placeholder until the campaign officially begins) so that I can give you a token in time for Session 1. I will meet personally with each player prior to Session 1 to discuss character creation and expectations for the campaign.
What Dakota brings to the table
I will provide a discord server for communication and use Roll20 for dice rolls and maps.

How Dakota creates a safe table
Curse of Strahd is a gothic horror campaign and will thus be an intense experience containing a multitude of potentially distressing themes. Players will complete a consent checklist prior to the beginning of the campaign so that the game may be tailored for everyone's comfort. Additionally, the X-N-O card system will be implemented for anything not caught by the filter of the original checklist. We're here to traumatize the characters, not the players.
