About Justin Barron

Hi, I'm Justin! I am a long-time GM who loves collaborative storytelling and immersive roleplay. I'm a professional actor, improviser, and musician and can't help but blend my creative crafts together, resulting in a fun and engaging tabletop experience! Based in Kansas City, I am also the owner and operator of Tipsy Bard KC, an immersive pop-up experience that hosts a number of events such as TTRPG Epics, Murder Mysteries, and more. All are welcome at my table - regardless of experience or background. No gatekeeping allowed!

How Justin Barron runs games

As a lover of film, I tend to lean toward a cinematic approach to my stories. Using a theatre-of-the-mind format allows an imagination heavy take on what is happening at any given time, which I love. Hand in hand with character art, world maps, etc., that goes a long way. That being said, for some games, a battle map or more visual approach is helpful and will be provided. All in all, I thrive in roleplay and narrative over heavy tactics and combat but that doesn't mean the stakes won't be high!

Featured Prompts

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...

Steven Spielberg, John Hughes, or Edgar Wright. They all have definitely had a huge impact on how I tell stories.

Rules are...

a guide used to help tell a compelling story and give an enticing experience. They are a tool that can be used when helpful.

Justin Barron's ideal table

You'll fit perfectly at my table if you: -Are open to a collaborative experience where everyone contributes -Are interested in character-driven stories more than min-maxing tactics -Enjoy blending high stakes vulnerability with light-hearted humor -Are looking for a GM who will "Yes, and" your ideas and push the plot forward

Featured Prompts

I am for a vibe that's...

collectively focused on the experience. Whether we are in a tense moment of catharsis or a silly tangent, the vibe should be togetherness.

I love it when a player

contribute to the story in ways that progress the plot and weave new threads.

My table is not the place for...

min/maxing, strong-arming the narrative or other players, hogging the spotlight.
