About Justin

Hi, I'm Justin! I am a long-time GM who loves collaborative storytelling and immersive roleplay. I'm a professional actor, improviser, and musician and can't help but blend my creative crafts together, resulting in a fun and engaging tabletop experience! Based in Kansas City, I am also the owner and operator of Tipsy Bard KC, an immersive pop-up experience that hosts a number of events such as TTRPG Epics, Murder Mysteries, and more. All are welcome at my table - regardless of experience or background. No gatekeeping allowed!

How Justin runs games

As an actor and improvisor, I thrive in gripping roleplay, dramatic story arcs, and memorable NPCs. My love for collaborative storytelling means putting you and your character choices at the front of whatever story we are creating. I love teaching new players and learning from experienced ones. I come to every table with patience, an open mind, and a totally healthy amount of character voices.

Featured Prompts

My games focus on...

the characters you bring to the table. I find great joy in working off of what my players give me instead of railroading or forcing them into my machinations. Therefore, every game ends up being custom-fit to my group and their choices.

Rules are...

a guide used to help tell a compelling story. They should be respected but not to a degree of detriment on the experience. I'm a big fan of homebrew and Rule of Cool.

When it comes to voices

I enjoy taking creative choices and don't take myself too seriously. Character voices are never necessary but can add a lot of depth to a character and fun to a session.

Justin's ideal table

You'll fit perfectly at my table if you: -Are open to a collaborative experience where everyone contributes -Are interested in character-driven stories more than min-maxing tactics -Enjoy blending high stakes vulnerability with light-hearted humor -Are looking for a GM who will "Yes, and" your ideas and push the plot forward

Featured Prompts

I am for a vibe that's...

collectively focused on the experience. Whether we are in a tense moment of catharsis or a silly tangent, the vibe should be togetherness.

I love it when a player

contributes to the story in ways that progress the plot and weave new threads.

My table is not the place for...

min/maxing, strong-arming the narrative or other players, hogging the spotlight.
