About Octavius

Hey there! My name is Octavius and I have been creating stories for almost 10 years! Ever since middle school I have been bringing my friends together to explore fantastical worlds and roleplay passionate scenes. My goal every session is to help tell YOUR character's story and to provide a space where everyone is invested and feels safe enough to express their own creativity and ideas. I love teaching new players and challenging veteran players both. Whether you've been playing since the 80s or you're a first-timer, I believe that every player brings something unique to the table. I believe that character is at the center of every story regardless of the setting or genre. The choices you make and more importantly the consequences both good and bad are the key to unveiling the narrative being told. Whether it be high fantasy adventure, a grimdark dystopian trial of survival, a gritty cyberpunk struggle to become a legend, a low magic scheme to take the throne, a modern day supernatural mystery, or a futuristic space opera, I love to collaborate with my players to create a story you'll never stop thinking about.

How Octavius runs games

Roleplay is extremely important in my games. Not everyone needs to do a voice or write a 10 page long backstory but being willing to at least try to be "in character" is a part of the most fun parts of the game to me. I love making fun NPCs for the players to bounce off as well, who add onto the player's stories and tie in with their backstories. Combat in my games is difficult but not guaranteed to be deadly if prepared for adequately. Making smart moves and knowing what abilities you have at your disposal will be very important to making sure that the entire party comes out unscathed.

My games focus on...

Character decisions and their consequences for better or worse. The direction of my campaigns reflects what the players desire more or less of.

Octavius's ideal table

My table is open to everyone from any background. The type of players that fit well are the type of people who make pinterest boards, song playlists, and write page long backstories for their characters. Everyone having fun is most important to my games. Darker topics may be brought up within the story as long as all players are comfortable with them. Widesweeping grand adventures, personal mysteries being investigated, gritty struggles for survival, overarching political schemes, and emotional confrontations are all aspects of my games that come up often with a ton of humor sprinkled throughout to keep us laughing.

I love it when a player

Makes an interesting character driven choice with consideration to the other players while changing the dynamics of the narrative and other characters to one another.

I think metagaming...

Is okay when it takes into account the other players at the table and the collaborative narrative being told.

My table is not the place for...

Anyone who makes others at the table uncomfortable
