About Goblin RPGs (Dave)
Hello there! My name is Dave and I've been playing TTRPGs since 2013. I transitioned to the role of "forever DM" several years ago because of my immense love of telling stories and creative expression! Outside of the game, I work as a real life druid at a wildlife shelter! I'm most familiar with DnD, Call of Cthulhu and Monster of the Week but I love exploring new systems! If you don't see something you're looking for, feel to reach out!

I became a GM because
I enjoy it! GMing has been an excellent way for me to express myself, improve as a writer and meet new people for the past several years. There's nothing quite like seeing a story evolve before my eyes as the player characters interact with the world I've created!
My favorite shows/movies are
- The Thing (1982) The visuals of this film have inspired me artistically a monstrous amount! - The Lord of the Rings Watching these in my formative years played no small part in my love of fantasy. - Gremlins As a known goblin, I've got a real soft spot for these impish little guys.
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
- Flexible I'm not one to get bogged down by RAW if it's getting in the way of enjoyment. - Immersive I put great care into my worlds and I want you to be able to feel like you're truly living in it! - Welcoming Whether you're brand new or a seasoned vet, my tables are welcoming and safe for all.
How Goblin RPGs (Dave) runs games
I enjoy telling an intricate story alongside my players. I care deeply about exploring my player character's personal stories and making sure everyone feels involved. My sessions tend to be between 30-50% combat and 50-70% roleplay. I am an avid fantasy and horror fan and tend to draw from those genres most when creating scenarios. While I put my focus on roleplaying and narrative, I do also greatly enjoy designing intricate and engaging combats with custom monsters that challenge my players beyond "I attack with my broadsword". For technology, I use roll20 as a tool to augment immersion with visuals, audio and streamlining without letting the tech become overbearing. I also use discord for communicating with and organizing my players as well as my in-session voice chat.

My games focus on...
Keeping everyone involved! There's nothing worse than waiting for your turn in an RPG and getting completely taken out of the moment. I combat this with strong visuals and descriptions that pull you in and by assisting my players with rules questions promptly to keep the action moving.
Goblin RPGs (Dave)'s ideal table
My perfect table consists of 4-6 players that are invested in the story. Whether you're a min-maxer or a role player, a goofball or someone who plays it straight, you have a place at my table. The only thing that I ask is that you're ready for an epic adventure!

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
Creative Freedom! In my opinion, this is the best part of TTRPGs and the thing that sets them apart from just playing a video game. You can truly be anything and do anything at my table, the minds the limit! I will always encourage my players creativity rather than force them down a particular path.
I love it when a player
Thinks outside of the box! I love it when a players solution to a problem that I present is completely different from anything I could've come up with. Sometimes these moments can even completely change the course of a campaign (for the better)!
