About Tyler Branch
I like to learn new RPGs and systems so picking up a new game type is easy and enjoyable. I prefer open world type DMing based on the players backstories and play preferences. I never liked railroaded scenarios or DMs that ignored the actual players. That is why I got into DMing. I like to create open worlds when I can and do use or start from premade scenerios sometimes but like to create the world.

How Tyler Branch runs games
I prefer open world type DMing based on the players backstories and play preferences to craft the players into stories. I never liked railroaded scenarios or DMs that ignored the actual players. That is why I got into DMing. I like to create open worlds when I can. I do use or start from premade scenerios sometimes depending on needs but like to create the world. The actual gameplay style for a campaign depends on the mix of players and personalities. I do run standard modules and campaigns which are less sandbox as well. I can only run so many sandbox campaigns because they take a lot to create a complex living breathing world like I like.

I deal with rules issues by...
Either consensus, a database, or a let's make a ruling now and look it up later to play by how it is written to keep things going. Depends on the situation in the rule and the game some games are rules lite.
My games focus on...
A dynamic living world. I like to support player agency and see players create a story whether I'm running them standard module with less sandbox elements or not. I tend to adjust the story game or etc to how the person wants to play the character because unique characters are what makes a game fun
Rules are...
There to add predictability and world simulation for the player. They had something to calculate and play with. They are there to make the game fun so it depends really on the mix of players some players prefer the rules to be followed some are more flexible. It's there for fun not just to follow.
Tyler Branch's ideal table
I like to create a good story and as much as possible make the world come alive for the players. One of TTRPGs advantages is as a way to remove limits on environmental/game impact and player action that other games impose. The table varies based on type of players and module or if it is full sandbox. I cannot run too many full sandboxes due to time. I can adjust the table to most types of players but the players should be as compatible with each other as possibble and be happy with everything. Compatibility is more than keeping the peace as they all need to enjoy the game as well. In most cases the game can be adjusted to enhance compatibility and smooth any incompatibilities.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
A DM that gives a crap about your character and your back story and tries to weave it into the story as much as possible. I like to make the character come alive for the player.
I love it when a player
Comes up with unique solutions and uses out of the box thinking. When they can use the world or lore to come up with something cool. Also some players can really play a character well and make the table for the rest of the players either by being interesting comedic or somehow having a social impact
I think metagaming...
Generally I dislike it and discourage it but it depends on the mix of players if the player is like it I'm in. Sometimes I have to do made a gaming for slow starts so they can see how the story is evolving and working when you can't see the story like in the beginning of sandbox games.
