About Jason
Once upon a time... From the time that I first discovered the written word, all the way to now, two and a half centuries later, those words still give me a thrill up and down my spine. I consume, devour, the written word as a person starving. When I was first introduced to tabletop roleplaying (at the ripe old age of 8), discovering that I can create stories through shared imagination, I was immediately in love! Since then, I have played and ran many game systems. I was a tournament dungeon master in the Roleplaying Gamers Association many years ago (till it changed ownership and I fell away from tournament and con DMing). Everyone is welcome in my party, as we explore all the many vast worlds out there! Jason (he/him)

My favorite books are
Tolkien's entire Middle Earth collection will always be one of my absolute favorites. I was introduced to Pern from Anne McCaffrey and quickly became a diehard fan of Pern and her others. Then the Dresden Files, Simon R Green's urban fantasy series. So many others, more than I have space to list.
My favorite shows/movies are
The Crow, the Lost Boys, Star Trek everything, Firefly, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Eureka, Haven, Fringe, The X-Files, classic movies and musicals.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Playing games, building complex Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and robotics projects. Getting lost in the woods. Playing sll kinds of games. Devouring books at an obscene rate. Building models. Woodworking and woodturning. Escape rooms. Writing stories that will likely never get published.
How Jason runs games
My games are full of story, mental challenges, roleplaying, and creative combat. I love games and groups that tell their stories. My games are challenging and will ask you to think and be creative, look for alternate solutions at times. Combat is there, but swinging a stick at your problem is not always the best way to deal with it. No hate. No disruptive rules lawyering. No bigotry and prejudice.

I deal with rules issues by...
Intelligent, mature conversation and open dialogue. Up to a point, and then the ultimate rule is enforced. As Gary himself said, "DM's discretion."
Rules are...
Mostly there to be used as guidelines. Some rules need to stand as is for the most part.
When it comes to voices
I do my best, but some accents I suck at. lol
Jason's ideal table
It would be a large round table, ancient/gothic/Victorian, carven dark wood style, with places for beverages, food, a velvet indent for rolling of the dice. A tray for character sheets and notebooks. Candlelight. Something that would look appropriate in an ancient castle, or King Arthur to sit at.

I love it when a player
Engages in thoughtful, intellectual play. Not just swinging a stick to solve every problem. Creative problem-solving. Interacts with their fellow players and the GM. I love elaborate back stories and motivations for characters!
I think it's a red flag when players...
Immediately start looking for rules to support whatever they are trying to do. Rules lawyering is one of my biggest dislikes.
My table is not the place for...
Hate, divisive politics or religion. No bigotry, no bullying, no abuse. Inclusivity and support for everyone. Love Wins.
