Marvel Multiverse RPG Goes Into The Spider-Verse

via: Marvel

Marvel seems to be committing hard to its upcoming Marvel Multiverse RPG. Game designer Matt Forbeck announced that a Spider-Verse expansion book is set for summer of 2024. It will of course feature stats for various popular spider heroes and their villains, and even Uncle Ben (oof). More excitingly, the expansion will include rules for creating your own SpiderSona. Smart, as that’s already a growing trend on social media with artists. The Spider Verse Expansion will join an X-Men Expansion and Kang-centric adventure to support the game’s launch in the coming year.

Asians Represent Aren’t Fans Of New D&D Monk Changes

Notable podcast Asians Represent went over D&D’s Unearthed Arcana 6 for the 2024 Player’s Handbook. Their focus was the Monk, which WotC has declared is undergoing big overhauls for culture reasons. The stated goal is to remove the mystical Asian martial artist stereotype to open the class up to other interpretations.

As it is now, however, the Asians Represent hosts find that the new terms aren’t working as intended. By changing Ki to “Discipline Points,” the hosts feel that WotC is actually inviting more tropes in the vein of “You rack discipline.” This leaves the monk in an awkward place, they say, as it neither serves the martial artist fantasy nor moves away from it. Instead, the hosts would rather WotC brought on Asian consultants and martial artists to give the class a more authentic identity.

Pathfinder Enters The AR Dimension With Mirrorscape

via: Mirrorscape

Mirrorscape is an Extended Reality app that will make digital terrain and minis appear on your table via mobile devices. And now, it will do so with official Pathfinder and Starfinder content. Paizo is partnering with Mirrorscape to make its worlds officially available on the platform shortly after the app launches its open beta later this year.

‍

That brings an exciting and discussion-worthy week of news to a close. What kind of hijinks will Mighty Nein get up to now? What wild SpiderSonas will people create? And is there any hope of saving the D&D monk? Those answers won’t come until months from now, so stay tuned and may your dice roll well.
