AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!!! Avengers? Guys?

You got your Marvel Multiverse RPG (MMRPG) character sheet all done and ready, but you can't get a superhero team-up without a team. Fortunately there are a lot of online tools out there to help you find your future teammates, just like Cerebro helping Prof X to find new mutants.

StartPlaying Games

StartPlaying is an online platform that helps players find GMs. It has a robust search engine that lets you find Marvel Multiverse RPG games and also offers way more options to narrow down your search than the other methods discussed before. It allows you to filter for day, time, experience level, age, VTT, session duration, oneshot vs campaign and more.

Not only will the search options help you find the perfect game for you, but you can also check more information about the GM offering the game. By clicking on their profile you will be able to learn more about them and their style. The highlight here are the verified reviews left by players on each GM's profile, which allows you to have an insight on how it is like to play with them.

Facebook

When we mention social media, Facebook is what still comes to mind for most people, so it is easy to imagine that there is a group dedicated to our Marvel rpg game. With over 3.4k members it is quite active with lots of posts showing off their own hero sheets. You can start a post there looking for a group to play or respond to one.

Reddit

A great place when you are focused on a niche hobby and despite the popularization of rpg games in the last years, ours is still very much a niche. I will stop calling it a niche once I no longer have to explain that my hobby is a mix of board games and improv theater, just to get puzzled looks and have to explain it again.

Redddit has two generic communities for searching groups for any rpg system. One for free games LFG and one for paid ones LFG Premium. It also has a subreddit dedicated to mmrpg, where players discuss rules, builds, updates and look for groups.

Demiplane

Created to provide a better way to deal with digital rpg content, Demiplane offers an easy way to read your books online, top of the line character builder and a matchmaking system

When you create your user there you will be prompted questions to help define your playstyle. This will be taken into account for the matchmaking system. Once you go there for the first time you will also have to select what game systems you are interested in, what times you have available and what are your VTTs of preference. The site will then show you games with free seats that most match your needs. Demiplane also offers more traditional lfg forums

Roll20

Roll20 is the largest VTT by far, boasting over 15 million users. There are people playing all the systems you can imagine. They provide ways for you to find other players or a GM, but of course only for those running their games in Roll20 itself.

There is a game search tool called Listings, where you choose a game system, but you need to enable Advanced Search to see basic things like day of the week and session time. Just like its partner Demiplane, it also offers the traditional lfg forums for free games and paid games

Discord

Discord is a text, voice and video communication tool that has managed to grow a lot of communities with its feature of allowing anyone to build a separate server to focus on anything they want. It is super popular with gamers and has two public servers where we can search for like minded players.

The official Roll20 discord has a channel called looking-for-players that has Narrators looking for players and vice-versa. Similar to the two Roll20 methods discussed before, it is meant for finding all types of game systems, but you can specify which one you are interested in.

Marvel Multiverse RPG has its own official discord server. A great place to talk with other players about all things mmrpg. It offers two channels for you to form a group: campaign-listings and game-hosting-a-lfg.

Rodrigo is a nerdy D&D enthusiast and Marvel fanboy who runs tabletop RPG games for a living.
