Time to get ready and delve into the mystrious city of mist! Just because it's a noir-themed game doesn't mean you have to play in the old-fashioned way. With an explosion of online virtual tabletop platforms popping up like mushrooms after rain, now's the perfect time to explore which one works best for you!

This article is your guide to helping you navigate through the fog. Find an online platform that excites and welcomes you and, with it, the perfect Master of Ceremonies who matches your style!

‍

4. The Virtual Table Tops

You might be tempted to try a VTT website offering a way to find game groups, players and Masters of ceremony.. I could only find one host willing to run it. In FounderyVTT’s Discord, you will find the game delegated to the other-game-systems channel, where all of it is just support for the module and not a way to find a group. That is not to say you can’t find a group on those platforms, but it will be a tough fight.

‍

3. Social Media

Facebook, Reddit, and the like are a bit more active. They're great places to ask questions that you want many to answer, like “Anyone looking for a group?” but it might take some time to get the attention. On Reddit, we found a recommendation that led us to a more productive place to find groups.

‍

2. The Official Discord

The community-building tools that Discord allows create a safe and welcoming place to chat and meet new people. You will find players and MCs trying to find players with a dedicated channel group just for that. If not for that, you might want to join just to discuss case ideas, myths, the plot of the game, and just chat about movies, music, or the other Mist game systems. :Otherscape and the new Legend in the Mist also have dedicated channels.  The cherry on top? The developers are part of Discord and are open to questions about the game.

‍

1. StartPlaying

StartPlaying has both the discord community and the search engine to double on your gains, without more effort. You will find many hosts of games, with a plethora of styles and time session options, who are willing to share their experience if you are a host yourself or many of them who are willing to run the game for you if you are a player. Even if a game is not open right now, you can always check the GM portfolio of someone who fits your vibe and request booking. It is that easy. With StartPlaying games, you also have high control over the payment. If you are a player and need to skip a session, you can always opt out, and if you are a host, you have tools to reschedule. For anything that might come up, you will find the great support team is ready and fast in their approach if anything comes up.

What are you still looking for? You might be just two clicks away from finding your match, joining a new group, and starting to play the celebrated City of Mist!
