Paul is an incredible DM. He takes the time to explain everything, tells great stories, and encourages his players to do crazy things.

Paul is a phenomenal GM. He knows the rules inside and out and is always happy to answer questions that may come up along the way, help support new players, and provide gentle reminders of any useful game mechanics that may be helpful to players. He is particularly good at setting the scene so that the players can develop plans and make decisions without feeling either railroaded a certain direction or wanting for detail or clues. It's a very balanced approach that never fails to make whatever game he's running in whatever setting (fantasy, sci-fi, etc.) feel immersive and exciting. Paul is an especially strong storyteller with a gift for improvised dialogue and we've adopted more than one of his NPCs into the party simply because the players liked them so much.

Paul had a deep understanding of a huge variety of games, and is able to match playstyle, group energy, and setting to the perfect ruleset. He is patient when explaining the rules to new players, and a great teacher no matter what level of player you are. If you've ever looked at a game that you don't know and thought "that looks fun, but I'm not sure where to start" Paul is the perfect GM for you. He listens to what his players want and caters every session to the player characters. He focuses on keeping the game fun for everyone at the table, so no one feels left out or left behind. He understands the importance of story and creating something together, but he also keeps each adventure rooted in the game itself, allowing players to explore the nuisance of what makes each game special. Paul is an exceptional GM who loves gaming, and whose enthusiasm and kindness are contagious. 100000% recommended.

Character creation
Creating your character

During session 0, we will discuss character concepts and how everyone fits together. I will then create character sheets before session 1. These characters will be heroic in capability but not overwhelmingly powerful. (In GURPS terms, I will build them on a budget of 150 points.)

What to expect
Preparing for the session

We will use microphones for audio, and cameras will be welcome but not required. Before session 0, you should think about a concept for a character that would be attending a medieval tournament. Are you a young knight looking to prove herself? A merchant bringing wares from foreign lands?

What Paul brings to the table

In addition to creating the character sheets, I will provide a custom Foundry world for us to play in. This will include scenes/maps, character and adversary tokens, and other features to make play smooth and fun.

Safety
How Paul creates a safe table

We will discuss player safety tools and requirements during session 0 (or privately through email, if preferred). I will work a short break into each session around the midpoint of play.
