About the adventure
The Wildsea takes place in a post-apocalyptic setting where nature won. In a world covered in mile-high trees, life takes to the verdant waves in hopes of survival. It's a wild, weird, and wonderous world out there, ripe for discovery. In this game, you'll design your ship, form a crew, and take to the waves in an adventure of your choosing. Who will you be? How will the world remember you? Will you alter the course of civilization, or simply live struggling to keep your ship running another day? Play as distant relatives of humanity, a sentient mushroom, a forever-young moth person, or even a hivemind of spiders articulating a bag of woven skin. Command a chainsaw-driven ship, fight manor-sized squirrels, and whisper world-changing secrets into existence. Let's set sail, and explore this wild, weird world together.

About me
I love being lost in immersion. Call it escapism, or simply being imaginative, but it's my favorite feeling. Over the past 10 years, I've learned a lot about hosting games, and recently I've only become more excited to share my enthusiasm with friends, family, and new people who feel the same way. Come and stay a while, and let's immerse ourselves in worlds of our creation. --- My name is Jeff. I use he/him pronouns, but only due to societal ease. Call me whatever makes sense in your vocabulary. I have hosted D&D 5e, PbtA, Fate, and Wild Words systems. My preference is to run rules-lite, roleplay-forward games, but it's also fun to dig into the crunch of a good system.

Creating your character
Character Creation will happen during Session 0, though it is expected of players to at least come to the table with ideas for their character. Curated documents will be provided to players before the first session, but supporting the developers by buying their work is encouraged. A free starter kit is provided by the author on their website, regardless of if the players wish to buy the books. During Session 0, players will dictate their character creation choices live, filling out basic information in a shared document. Once everyone's basic info is recorded, players are encouraged to flesh out their characters by adding quirks, details, and expanding the crew's relationships and histories with guided questions.
This is a play-by-post game of The Wildsea, by Felix Isaacs! Take to the verdant waves with your patchwork crew, and explore this wild, weird world on your own time! This PBP game is perfect to help people new to Wildsea and who prefer to not be on the spot for roleplaying. As Firefly(GM), I will be available to direct action throughout the week when possible, as well as hosting faster scenes on designated game days (To be determined by the group). An open-ended adventure with a thrilling start! Take to the waves with a ship of your design, and explore the verdant sea. The Wildsea system uses a pool of d6 built from abilities and approaches, but it's highly narrative-forward. Take control of the story with Twists, which shift narrative direction to the table, and Whispers, which allow you to breathe your own life to scenes.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
-Microphone -Discord Account Audio is required, but video is not. If audio quality suffers to the point of being unintelligible or distracting, talk to me beforehand or between sessions to try and work out solutions. Discord is the only program required, Spotify is recommended for background ambiance. Players are encouraged to support The Wildsea's creators and purchase physical or digital copies; however, this is not a requirement and relevant documents will be provided before Session 0, between sessions, and as requested. To prepare for character creation during Session 0, players are encouraged to review character options and come ready to share their thoughts. Players are also encouraged to ask questions at any time, for clarity or direction alike.
What Jeff brings to the table
I will supply PDF's of relevant documents for play and character creation. This game will be run using Discord, and Theater of the Mind. Time will be set aside at the start of sessions to warm-up players' minds and get them centered in 'roleplay mode', and there will be time set aside at the end of sessions for a 'debriefing', allowing players to ask for rule clarity, direction, and feedback. I utilize ambient music, and try to apply curated sounds to fit the mood when applicable, but this volume is controlled by players in case they find it distracting or hard to focus. Scenes, including combat, are directed using an Action Tracker behind-the-screen, and the focus will be spread evenly as possible among players, offering as close to equal agency as can be managed. Rule of Cool is practically built-in to the rules of The Wildsea. While there are mechanics for many parts of character management and interaction, a lot of the game relies on players dictating their actions as vibrantly as possible, and only rolling dice when their described actions are Difficult, Risky, or otherwise require detail.

How Jeff creates a safe table
A public Lines and Veils document is standard in The Wildsea. Players may announce additions, or privately message me to make amendments to this document myself. It is a living document, as it is expected to be reviewed and updated at any time, including in-the-moment. As players use X, N, & O cards, play will be paused for consideration and apologies, and the list of Lines and Veils will be discussed or added to immediately. Session 0 will consist of; going over safety tools including their implementation, a rules breakdown for new players, character and ship creation, and a brief roleplaying introduction.
