About the adventure

Unlike traditional fantasy adventures where heroes triumph over evil with sheer might, this modified version of Curse of Strahd is a Gothic Horror tale—where survival itself is a victory. This is a world of decay, dread, and despair, where the people are broken, hope is fleeting, and malevolence is ever-present. (Though your characters may bring light, laughter and whimsy) The land itself is cursed, and you will feel its weight on your soul. What you uncover may save you… or damn you. Resources are scarce, allies are few, and the odds are rarely in your favor. Not all choices will be black and white, and even good intentions can lead to terrible outcomes. If you are ready to step into a land of shadows and whispers, where fear is a constant companion and hope is a fragile thing, then welcome to Barovia. The Mists are calling... will you answer?

About me

Greetings, adventurers! My name is Cody, and I’ve been a Game Master for over a decade, weaving epic tales and unforgettable journeys in Dungeons & Dragons and, more recently, Pathfinder 2e, which I’ve completely fallen in love with. Originally from Chicago, I now call Europe home, where I continue to fuel my passion for immersive storytelling and dynamic gameplay. For me, tabletop RPGs are more than just games—they’re about crafting worlds, creating deep character moments, and forging unforgettable experiences. I thrive on building rich narratives, balancing combat with roleplay, and making every session feel meaningful and engaging. My goal is simple: to provide my players with thrilling, immersive experiences where we laugh, strategize, and create legendary memories together. If you’re looking for a GM who is passionate, experienced, and committed to work on making every session feel like an epic tale, then I’d love to welcome you to my table! Are you ready to step into the story? The dice are waiting to decide your fate! 🎲✨

I have been through a couple of campaigns with Cody. He is always very prepared, and puts extra effort into every game to make the experience unique to the players. Cody also has a strong knowledge of the rules and is works with the players to make sure that "the rule of cool" is the most important rule!

An excellent trip through a Ravenloft-inspired realm, lots of horror and intrigue. Since it's horror, it was going to end up with a TPK but so much fun!

Cody is the best DM that I've ever had! He has a great a combination of telling the story in a way that you can visualize it perfectly and strong knowledge of the rules that make it fun and exciting. Look forward to playing every week!

He’s an excellent GM. He fully immerses you in the experience with voices, sounds and great story telling. It feels as though you are actually in the game!

Cody is the best GM I've ever had and it's been 15 years of playing with dozens of GMs! We played both online and in person, and was equally fun. He's the master of voices and improv, his existentialist philosophical talking swan with a lisp is still my favorite! He has distinct personalities and accents for each NPC and there's so much fun banter. He also gives good advice for building your characters and rewards good role play and staying in character. I also loved we did not just cast spells but acted out how we did it and which words we spoke. Big recommendation can't wait to play again!

Character creation
Creating your character

The Curse of Strahd will take characters from level 3 to anywhere between level 10 and 13. It is a sandbox which means characters may possibly enter an area that is above or below their advised level. We will use the free archetype and the slow bonus progression rule so builds can come online earlier. We will discuss further in session zero. Session Zero & Player Expectations Before we embark on this journey, we will have a Session Zero—a free session dedicated to character creation, party cohesion, and setting expectations. This is a collaborative experience, and I want to ensure that every player is engaged and invested in the story. A few important notes: • This campaign thrives on mystery. If you have played Curse of Strahd before, watched a playthrough, or read spoilers, I kindly ask that you do not sign up. Part of the magic of this adventure is the unknown, and prior knowledge can diminish that experience. • This is a horror campaign. While not designed to be overly graphic, the game does explore dark themes. If there are any specific content concerns, we will discuss boundaries in Session Zero. • Roleplay matters. While combat and tactics are important, immersive roleplay and problem-solving are just as vital to your survival. • Player agency is key. Your choices will shape the world around you. Actions have consequences, and the story will evolve based on the paths you choose.

What to expect
Preparing for the session

Players must have a working mic to play. I will host the game through foundry so all you need is yourself/voice and would be good to use pathbuilder to help create your character. The Lands of Barovia contain many Undead monsters but I will add/incorporate many living monsters as well. You should all be familiar with the Pathfinder 2e rules and would be good, though not necessary, to have a 2-3 character concepts in mind before session zero.

What Cody brings to the table

I like to run rule of cool and sometimes may get a rule incorrect but will continue forward for the sake of continuity and can talk about the proper rules out of session. I am also very open to using homebrewed rules for certain instances that make the game fun for all. Intense combats on Foundry VTT with maps/tokens. Excellent Social encounters with some different voice actings, theatre of mind scenes and animated maps, plus atmospheric and thematic music.

How Cody creates a safe table

Will send a safety content checklist and Session 0 will go over all potential instances and any possible moments of Uncomfortability. I am very open and would love for my players to be comfortable and enjoy their time. Anyone who doesn't wish to speak about it in front of others may message me privately and I will work with them to resolve the issue. Details will be sent to them via discord
