About the adventure

"CAN YOU CHANGE FATE?" 🌴 Tropical ventures? ✔️ 🌊Life on the High Seas? ✔️ 💎Extraordinary Artifacts? ✔️ ⏳A Race Against Rivals? ✔️ An ill omen darkens the shores of Exandria. When a forgotten hero's cries shatter the coastline of a maritime village into the sea, nautical adventurers find themselves beckoned by a fallen champion's call. How do you answer? Inspired by the hit series Critical Role, this piratical "Call of the Netherdeep" adaptation takes characters through the glittering shores of the Menagerie Coast, the barbed fields of Xhorhas, and the Oasis metropolis of Marquet's Ank'Harel, from 1st to 13th level. This campaign is open to players of all experience levels; whether you're new to the game or a veteran, all are welcome!

About me

Hi, intrepid heroes! I'm Aiman, but you may call me Toast 🤙🏻🧙🏻‍♂️ I've been dungeoning dragons for the better part of 9 years. My players have sleuthed, slayed, and swashbuckled through cursed tombs, hijacked Star Destroyers, and bloodstained alleyways. I regularly plunder lore and loot ideas from many a medium, from classic fantasy novels a la Lord of the Rings, to kickass actual play shows like Dimension 20, to movies like that one about that galaxy that's really far from here 💫 All worlds, genres, and folks are welcome! 🤝🏻😊🏳️‍🌈

Character creation

Creating your character

Player characters will advance from 1st to 13th level by campaign's end. Players will be scheduled for exclusive calls for rolling sheets and basic discussions of the game/setting. The "Heroic Chronicle" character creation system from the "Explorer's Guide to Wildemount" will be used for establishing backstory. In the case that you join the campaign less than 48 hours from a session, you will be provided a pre-generated character for that week's session. A guided character creation call will be scheduled at some point in the following week.

The current party

New weekly campaign, every Friday, 12.00PM GMT+1. New players will be added to the game server upon approval and are encouraged to discuss their character ideas with the group. They will then be scheduled for an extensive and guided one-on-one character creation call after session 0, or before their first group session if session 0 has already occurred.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Mics are a must; text will only be used for sharing notes. You will need DnD Beyond and Discord accounts, for rolling character sheets and group voice/video/text chat respectively. Our virtual tabletop for maps and illustrations will be Owlbear Rodeo.

What GM Toast brings to the table

- Sourcebooks and character options on DnD Beyond - Custom-made maps via Dungeon Alchemist, or licensed maps via dedicated digital artists. - Curated soundtracks and music for background ambience in-game. - All the abovementioned elements will be hosted via the Owlbear Virtual Table Top and Discord.

Homebrew rules

~ Ruleset: We will be using the D&D 5e 2014 base rules and rulings will be interpreted/assumed based on that edition; some exceptions are listed below. ~ Potions: Will use the 2024 revised ruling, with a minor adjustment: - Drink one = Bonus Action. - Administer one = Action. ~ Help in Roleplay: You can Help on social checks—just describe how! ~ No Basic Ammo Tracking: Only special ammo (like magic or bombs) matters. ~ No Small Item Weight Limits: We don’t sweat the small stuff. ~ Milestone Leveling: No XP. You’ll level up with story progress. ~ Spell Components: Don’t worry about them—unless you’re hiring an NPC to do the casting; gold costs (or GP) however will still be tracked using the new Economy system! ~ Economy: Check this link for how things like currency and crafting will work! ~ Travel: Travelling mechanics still in development, but to be shared here when ready! ~ Exhaustion: Will use the 2024 revised ruling: - While you have the Exhaustion condition, you experience the following effects: - Exhaustion Levels. This condition is cumulative. Each time you receive it, you gain 1 Exhaustion level. You die if your Exhaustion level is 6. - D20 Tests Affected. When you make a D20 Test, the roll is reduced by 2 times your Exhaustion level. - Speed Reduced. Your Speed is reduced by a number of feet equal to 5 times your Exhaustion level. - Removing Exhaustion Levels. Finishing a Long Rest removes 1 of your Exhaustion levels. When your Exhaustion level reaches 0, the condition ends.

How GM Toast creates a safe table

This Critical Role campaign aims for a PG-13 content rating. Scenes of violence will be depicted, coarse language may be used by both in game characters and players, and some mature subject matter may be broached. If you have any questions or concerns about either the content of the adventure or the safety tools in use, feel free to message or schedule a call with me as soon as possible. Your comfort is the most important thing to me as a DM.
