About the adventure

You're on holiday in Santander, Spain when you befriend a local tourist guide. You are enchanted by his passion for the history of this small town in the North of Spain. His enthusiasm catches on to you and you spontanously agree to join him for a tour of Castillo de Corbanera. The castle is tiny: A near circular wall, and in the center - like the hub on a wheel - a single tower. But the view across the sharp cliffs onto the Atlantic is spectacular! You and a small group of other tourists walk through the gate of the castle, when the wooden door suddenly shuts with a bang. Your guide suddenly looks very different... You hear a manic cackle... This small adventure snatches you from our reality and time and throws you back 150 years into a world that resembles the real Spain, but offers magic, wonder and terrors for your amusement. Expect a high paced one-shot game. I aim to play consistent and believable - but the chance for a good laugh or a thrilling experience will always beat "logic". :) Wanna join me in magical Santander? :) Sign up! :) THIS IS THE ONLINE VERSION OF THE GAME! We play via Roll20.net. I wish you joy. Chris PS: YOU HAVE A FAMILY? This game can be family friendly! If you want to engage your kids phantasy and spent a good time as a family - then this adventure is perfect for you. If kids are in the group I tone down my usual style of humor and might simplify the rules. (Depending on the age of your kids.)

About me

I will make sure that you have a great time playing Dungeons & Dragons. Together we will create an wonderful world and experience great adventures. I run beginner friendly campaigns that allow you to pick up the rules as you play along. We will play Dungeons & Dragons by the rules - with stress on the very FIRST RULE: Fun comes first! - If you have the chance to do something cool, but it would break the rule: Then the rule will break. I am here for you - not the rulebook. ;) I enjoy new discoveries, adventures and a good laugh. Diversity in all it's forms makes our lives richer and more interesting. As a European writer and coach I have lived in seven different countries within Europe. Originally from Düsseldorf in Germany, I now live in Santander, Spain. I speak several languages, but my games are mostly in English. (If you want me to run a game for your friends & family in a different language: Please reach out.) I offer D&D 5E games. (Dungeons & Dragons) We play on Roll20.net - or if you live near Santander, Spain: Live. Languages in which I can host games: - English (fluent) - German (native speaker) - Spanish (A2) - Estonian (A2)

Chris is great! I am enjoying our campaign a lot! He is very friendly and easy to talk to, has proficient knowledge about DnD and is amazing and patient at explaining it to beginners (like myself). Moreover he has a great sense of humor, and creates a nice and accepting atmosphere in a group. I would recommend Chris to anyone who wants to start playing, or has experience!

Chris was and still is very accomodating and very nice and I very enjoyed his style as a DM. He is a very good teacher of the game, very patient with beginners (and with the Roll20 system, ha!) He allows room for player creativity and Rule of Cool and knows the rules very well! His descriptions of actions were also very entertaining!

Character creation
Creating your character

We will have a "session zero" a few minutes before the actual game. In this session I answer open questions and you can choose your character from pre-made characters. We will also discuss your wishes and hopes for the game - as well as which "no goes" you have. (For example: I personally never want to see children suffer. So, this will not happen in my games.) Session Zero will happen in a voice-chat on my discord server.

What to expect
Preparing for the session

ONLINE: You need a free roll20.net account, a microphone and (ideally) the chrome browser. If you want to use video: That's also possible if all players agree. Here is all the TECH you need: - Computer - Internet - Chrome - Microphone - Speaker or Headset - Roll20.net (Free Account) TIPP: Do NOT use a tablet or phone for roll20. It's a nightmare. (For audio on discord you can use phone/tablet if you like.) IN PERSON: A table would be great. Some chairs. A quiet environment. Hopefully some coffee and fresh water. IN ANY CASE: Good mood, excitement and the will too cooperate together to have a great time. :)

What Chris Pyak brings to the table

If we play on Roll20.net I will bring all maps, character tokens (the symbols that represent you in the game), pictures and other items that are needed for the story. PLAY ONLINE: We will also have a "session zero" before the actual game where we will build your character according to your interests. In this session you will also automatically learn a lot about how the game works. PLAY AT OUR SHOP My wife is an artist and runs "El Rincon Creativo" with her friends in Santander. It's possible to play there in person. I provide everything we will need for the campaign: maps, miniatures, music, pictures etc. PLAY AT YOUR PLACE If we play LIVE I will bring all maps, miniatures, tokens etc. that are needed for the game. All you need to provide is a table, chairs and (hopefully) some coffee. :) Please NOTE: If I host a game at your place I will charge you an additional 0,35 EUR per kilometer driven for travel costs. (For example: If you live in Bilbao, a hundred kilometer from Santander, then I charge you 200km x 0,35€ = 70€ extra.

Safety
How Chris Pyak creates a safe table

Before we start the game I will have "Session Zero" with each player. We use this session to create your character together - based on your interests - or select a pre-made character if you are playing a one-shot. PS: I use zoom for session zero. You will find a calendar to schedule your session zero right after you signed up. We also use this session to find out what you are NOT comfortable with - so that you can enjoy the game. For example: I personally never want to see children suffer - so I make sure that this will never happen in one of my games.
