About the adventure
You are a member of an elite militia of mech pilots in service to a space station in Calliope, a backwater system on the dark edge of space which was colonized by mistake, taken for all it was worth, and then left to rot, its people left to rely on each other and scrabble for whatever scraps remained. Your troubled past led you to Calliope - you were running from something, chasing something, or if you're especially unlucky you were born in Calliope, and it is all you've ever known. In any case, you've built your life here. Calliope is your home... and your home is under attack. A cult of apocalypse seekers threatens to tear apart what little is left in search of their promised end, and your little motley crew is the only hope the system has of seeing another day. In Golden Flame Act 1 is the first of a three act campaign published by Vex Werewolf for Lancer. Act 1 covers LL0-LL5, roughly 20-30 sessions. Acts 2 and 3 span all the way to LL12. Act 1 has been officially published, Act 2 is currently in playtest. Please note that Lancer is a game which endorses a strong left-wing perspective, and left-wing themes are prominent in this campaign.

About me
Hello! My name is Ammar, I've been a gamemaster and player for 4 years. In that time I've run several campaigns and one shots. My focus lately has primarily been on Lancer, I dabble in many systems - the other games I've run the most sessions in have been Trail of Cthulhu, Dungeon World, and DnD 5e. I enjoy many styles of play, from highly character driven story games, to intense crunchy tactical experiences. In either case, the unique shared narrative we develop together at the table is what I love about TTRPGs. I like to leverage digital tools to enhance immersion and assist in running a smooth and fluid game. I have a background in software engineering, and I'm something of a "tech DM" - as an example, for the Trail of Cthulhu campaign I ran, I was using a modified version of the ruleset based on The Yellow King RPG. At the time there were no online tools available for that game, so I decided to code an implementation of it for FoundryVTT! I want to create an inclusive and safe environment for my players. To that end, I don't tolerate bigotry at my table.

Proficiencies
Players say this GM is great at:
Creativity
Knows the Rules
Teacher
Knows the system well, and willing to put up with players who keep finding ways to stretch the limits - as well as willing to help with technical issues with online services. A great GM who understands the setting and knows how to roll with the punches when things start going off plan.
Character creation
Creating your character
We'll create our group of pilots during session 0. Have a rough idea of what kind of character and which combat role you would like to play ahead of time, but be prepared to adapt to the group! We will collaborate as a group on developing characters and working out their backstories. Between session 0 and session 1, you'll put your build together on COMP/CON. This campaign will be using the optional Bond system for out of mech play. I'm more than happy to answer questions and assist with character creation before session 1. Further details will be provided in the discord!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Discord, a functioning mic, headphones, a COMP/CON account, and a computer will be required. Foundry VTT does not function well on mobile or on a tablet. When you sign up, you will receive a link to the discord server. I'll assign you a role once you're in, and you'll see a "#resources" channel which will provide further on-boarding documents, including a lore/campaign primer, a character creation guide, and several other relevant links. Before session 0, you'll want to budget a little bit of time to read/watch any necessary background materials, and make a COMP/CON account and poke around on it if you're unfamiliar with the platform.
What Ammar brings to the table
The Lancer module, and Foundry hosted on my own server. Foundry is a VTT which assists with smooth combat through automation, intuitive character tracking, exciting visual and sound effects, and excellent support for battle maps. I have a GM license for Foundry, so you'll be able to access it for free. I'll be using isometric battle maps and I'll have a curated soundtrack for enhanced immersion!

How Ammar creates a safe table
In Session 0 we will talk about our characters, set expectations for the game and make sure we are all set up with Foundry. Consent checklist form is posted in the discord, and additional lines and veils may be established.
