The Spirit of Sunhold | Homebrew | Learn to Play | Large-Scale Strategy | $20
You have been summoned to the island of Sunhold to defend its people from a hidden cult. Will you banish the horrors? Or will you join their ranks?
About the adventure
Welcome to the island of Sunhold, adventurer! Lord Wiscan has summoned you to his court for a dire purpose: the esoteric Sunservant cult terrorizes the people of Sunhold, horrifying aberrations stalk the island's forests, and a malevolent spirit pulls the strings from its mountain lair. Hold on to your homunculus, adventurer--the fate of Sunhold is in your hands! This is a homebrew module that responds to the decisions and playstyles of its players. This is a D&D 5e adventure for a party of 4-6 easy-going players who are looking for a fun but low-stress campaign. I take the rules seriously, but fun always comes second, and comfort first. Expect a high fantasy setting with magic, medieval weaponry, and supernatural creatures! Art credit: Christian Auriel.

Proficiencies
Players say this GM is great at:
Storytelling
Inclusive
Creativity
Will is excellent at creating a rich, captivating world for adventures. He goes out of his way to incorporate PC backstory into campaigns, and lets players approach the world in their own way. As a new player, I have felt that Will has been very accommodating of my need to learn. If you want a campaign with depth and detail, this is the GM for you.
I LOVE playing with Will, he is such a fun DM. The world he's built for us to explore is curiouser and curiouser, with more things to uncover every session. Our enemies are challenging, but effectively conquered (we beat a Beholder with just the 3 of us and some hired NPCs!) Will gives us lots of options for how to go about progressing the game, with still enough structure we're not scratching our heads, except for when there are fun puzzles to collaborate on. He's incredible knowledgeable about the rules, and is super easy to take notes from if you're a beginning player. tldr WILL IS AMAZING!!!
Character creation
Creating your character
We will be making characters at session zero, so just bring yourself. Characters will be at level 3, and they can include materials from any official 5e sourcebook, as well as approved homebrew sources. Again, we will be rolling stats with the option to default to a standard array.
Lovecraftian/cosmic horror on a mysterious island. Beginner friendly, reactive world, high stakes, fortress-building, high level play, queer-friendly game space. Good for players looking for role-play, horror, investigation, and political intrigue. Games every Monday! Players are currently at level 12!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need access to a computer, smart phone, or tablet with a working microphone and access to Discord and D&D Beyond. I will help players set these things up at session zero.
What Will Sikich brings to the table
I bring access to all current official D&D 5e sourcebooks on D&D Beyond, a dedicated Discord server, and a homebrew narrative module. I am not a professional voice actor, but I always try my best to create engaging gameplay experiences with fun NPC voices and personalities.

How Will Sikich creates a safe table
Gameplay at my table centers on roleplay, player comfort, and fun. I am more than willing to bend the rules for the sake of the enjoyment of the table, but I also work to ensure that my games feel fair and well-balanced. Content Warning: This campaign will include descriptions of violence, as well as tense role play situations. My goal is always, however, to ensure that I place only characters in peril—not my players. Breaks are always allowed, and players can message me at any time if they need something to change about their experience. Player comfort is extremely important to me. I maintain an open door policy regarding player feedback and requests, and I will always ensure that everyone at the table feels as safe as possible. We will have a session zero at no cost, wherein I will go over character creation and what players can expect from the campaign. We will be rolling stats with the option to default to standard array.
