About the adventure

Bruvell, a land that once prided itself on its control of magic, now shattered and humbled after the invasion of Feth’rezaal(Fury), the Dragon Queen of Nessus the 9th layer of the hells. Her ascension to the mortal realm has left the Forest of Githian permanently scarred even after her defeat. It’s now 20 years later and the forest is finally starting to regrow filling up the burning scar she created, but the new mountain range will be a consistent reminder of the region’s failures. The King is dying. King Raynaud received much backlash about his policies on magic restriction, the most coming from his oldest son Matthias, who saw them as too lax in the aftermath of Fury. Now, with his imminent crowning, Matthias has begun to spread news of new changes that will lead to stricter enforcement of magic and those capable of wielding it. The most notable of such changes are the increased funding and authority for The Society of Masked Sabre's(SMS) and their operatives, the Silhouettes. SMS has long had a bad reputation with many of the smaller villages, as they see them only as those that come to steal or kill as they are the enforcers of magical training, being sent to reports of those that begin to exhibit signs of magic use or the ability to become a great warrior, with the king's authority to take them for training, or execution upon refusal. Many of the more zealous people of Bruvell applaud the upcoming changes, but there are many that fear that the new policies will cause problems among many of the smaller communities of the continent. Flyers announcing new checkpoints, enforcements, patrols and guard postings are plastered on town boards and at crossroads throughout the land. Recruitment notices are posted for the Broguard(the city guard) and the Silhouettes. And now, as you follow the posting, you head off to the capital, Bravollor, to sign up at the Silhouette’s headquarters. Update: The Silhouette's have been disavowed due to a mysterious group called The Veiled. The party now travels the land to discover the truth behind this new organization and to find the proof that they are innocent to get the Silhouette's reinstated. This is a high RP homebrew game set in my own homebrew world of Ibirath on the continent of Bruvell.

About me

Hello, My name is Russell, aka DM Snugglybeast. I have always had a facination for a good story full of adventure. I have always loved the adventure, magic, exploration and discovery, and all things the imagination can create. I grew up reading the books of the Forgotten Realms, finding exhilaration in battle and survival from the hero drow Drizzt, and experiencing all the awe that was the Dragonlance Chronicles and everyone's favorite anti-hero mage Raistlin Majere. I read of the adventures of Han and Luke in what is now Legends lore in the aftermath of Episode 6, the trials and struggles of Luke trying to start a new Jedi Academy and Han still running from his previous life of crime, and the many other adventures the crew had. These were the things I grew to love and the adventures I seek to provide my players. A brand new adventure, separate from the world around us, but all too real in our imaginations with characters that are brought to life by our own creativity and humor, and the pieces of ourselves that we give to them. Adventures full of danger, humor and the chaos that frequently ensues in these adventures. I have always found collaborative games much more fun than the competitive counterparts, and I have loved RPG's for a long as I can remember. I remember in 6th grade running a 1st gen Pokémon D&D style game for my friends at recess. Which is why when I decided to start a game night with my friends I chose D&D. I have been playing RPG's for over 20 years in various forms, and DMing D&D specifically for the past 6 years. I started with 1, which quickly became 3, and now run games full time as my primary job. I run both online and in person games for both sci-fi and Fantasy genera's. I have a Bachelor's of Arts in Music and have been in multiple local plays. I love Roleplaying and tend to favor it more in my campaigns. I have my own homebrew world I run my homebrew campaigns in, and have run many published campaigns from both WotC and Indie publishers. May the dice roll ever in your favor, and I look forward to seeing you at the game table!

Character creation

Creating your character

We will create level 3 characters in a session 0, that will be free, where we will roll stats and discuss backstories. Characters will be created on dndbeyond attached to a campaign of mine so you can access all of my added content into the site. We will be using the 2014 ruleset for the game, I am ok with using some of the aspects of the 2024 content such as spells and feats, but if there is a legacy version of the content, we will be using that. Otherwise anything in my dndbeyond catalogue is good to use.

The current party

Party is currently level 12, and consists of a Rogue, Sorceror, Paladin, druid and a cleric/lock/sorc. 1 free feat at level 1, stats are rolled custom on my discord. We are using 2014 rules for this game.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A Mic is required, but a webcam is preferred. You will need internet access as well to access foundry at a link I will provide when we start playing, as well as to access their character sheets on dndbeyond. Foundry does not require any download as it is web based. I welcome my players to use their own dice if they have them, or they can use the digital dice on dndbeyond or Foundry VTT if they would rather have the math all done for them, but there will be certain aspects of the game i will have done on Foundry.

What Russell brings to the table

I will bring dice if everyone is local and willing to play in person. However if we are playing remote, personal dice are welcome, or you can use the digital dice in dndbeyond or Foundry VTT. I will provide in game handouts whether in person or digital. If we are playing in person, I will provide a Mini for each player they are welcome to keep when the campaign has ended, for digital games I will do my best to help players find a character art that fits their vision for their character. I also do voices for NPC's and use background music for better immersion.

Safety

How Russell creates a safe table

I utilize an open door policy for my games, if you need to step away in session or talk to me after the game I am open for that. We are all at the table to have fun and I want my players to feel safe and able to do so. I welcome feedback and encourage everyone to touch base frequently to make sure we are all on the same page.
