Game style

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Sandbox / Open World

In "Sandbox" or "Open World" games, players are given a tremendous amount of freedom to pursue their stories without the restrictions of a more linear game style. Players are encouraged to explore and engage with the world, and find their own story as they do so. These games offer the players the opportunity to help drive the narrative, and allow for the story to evolve organically through the choices they make.

Theater of the Mind

“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

How to prepare

✅ Discord account and a clear microphone. Video is optional. ✅ Physical or digital dice, either works just fine. ✅ Once in the Discord server, you will be given a role that will reveal the next steps for your Character setup.

What I provide

☑️ A sandbox setting tailor-made for the group that will be expanded upon as we play together. ☑️ A powerful virtual tabletop, Foundry is quick to learn and versatile during gameplay. ☑️ A fully moderated Discord Server for use as our game hub. Complete with links to all necessary sites and reference guides. ☑️ Art used for tokens and locations I bring hundreds of hours of player-driven GMing experience to the table and degrees in Creative Writing and game design to facilitate compelling narratives and create unique mechanics for the players.

Gameplay details

This game will be run using Foundry VTT. This simple and versatile platform lends itself well to the improv-heavy, sandbox-style game I enjoy running. This, combined with Theater of the Mind, ensures total and complete freedom for the players, as anywhere they want to go can be drawn on the map and performed. To ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all players, I use the following safety tools: ✅ A consent form all members of the group must complete. This will determine Lines & Veils ✅ Session zero to discuss concerns, boundaries, and themes before the game begins ✅ At least one 10-15 minute break in the middle of the session ✅ Open door policy. Contact me any time with questions or concerns ✅ In games of darker themes I enjoy running loose and humorous games when possible.
