Lights Out at the Nightwatch Lighthouse - A First Level One Shot - Greyhawk
About the adventure
The tiny, coastal town of Pinepass rests on the shores of the Azure Sea. Little known and rarely visited, each day passes much the same as the one preceding it. Pinepass, a mostly self sustaining community, has but one point of note: the Nightwatch Lighthouse, serving shipping lanes between the massive ports of Gryrax and Gradsul. Half a day's sail out on its island, the Nightwatch has gone dark. Four days have passed since the sheriff was sent to investigate. The beacon remains unlit. None have come to shore. Rumors and worry are spreading. A ship has run aground. A notice posted this morning reads: "Looking for interested party willing to investigate happenings at the Nightwatch Lighthouse. Reward of 40 gold pieces. Speak with Andrea Grimwald for more information." This is a full one shot I'm running and won't vary in quality from my paid content. If you like the adventure and want to continue then your characters can easily transition to my Ghosts of Saltmarsh campaign.
Meet the Game Master
About me
I stand with 3rd party content creators of all kinds, open gaming licenses, and the games that support the hobby rather than seek to mine it. I've been playing TTRPGs for 27 years and GMing for 2/3s of that. Running games is my preferred way to play. I thrive on seeing where players take things, not just where a module goes. I'm always happy to listen to your feedback, input, or needs. I'm extremely patient, tolerant, and open. I want to make sure you're having fun. Let's make voices and roll some math rocks.

Voices
I've had the fortune of playing various RPGs with Nick over a number of years online and in person as both a player and GM. Whether he is GMing or playing, he brings characters alive by embodying vivid and complex personalities, adding a depth to roleplaying interactions that can be hard to come by at the gaming table. A particularly poignant example that comes to mind in a recent game of Zweihander involved a night of murder and intrigue at a bustling inn, in which Nick masterfully balanced an ongoing clock of activities with a rich tapestry of NPCs with their own agendas. As we probed into individual NPC stories and the night's events, the characters populating the inn transformed into well-rounded and diverse personalities, making for a delightful evening of roleplaying. He extends this care into his game prep as well, and is enthusiastic about world building, going so far as to research medieval economies and practices in order to bring richer detail into his games beyond those laid out for GMs in sources like 5E's DMG. These trapping surround the roleplaying interactions and help the game feel truly immersive. Finally, despite all of the careful prep, Nick is quite ready to let player's really explore the narrative and go off the rails, and seems to be delighted with emergent storylines that are truly player-driven once he sets the stage. This adds a real fun-factor of player agency that makes his games a dynamic experience.
