About the adventure

In the quiet town of Coalridge, an aging blacksmith stands on the brink of ruin. Crushed by debt and the threat of losing his beloved forge, he makes a final, desperate request: retrieve a rare opal lost deep within the abandoned Coils Mineshaft. This one-shot emphasizes story-driven play, teamwork, and exploration, with just the right mix of danger and discovery. Whether you’re here to learn the ropes or dive into a classic fantasy tale, this adventure offers a focused quest with meaningful choices, mysterious depths, and a chance to bring hope to a fading flame.

About me

Hello! I'm Kairos and I am a Christian Game Master for Kairos Narratives. Since 2020 I've been running games as a Game Master. Including in person, online, and a hybrid of each. I've ran everything from one-shots to yearlong campaigns, engaging dozens of players in several groups. Through many experiences I've learned skills from a variety of narrative disciplines to include improv, screenwriting/authorship, acting, poetry, philosophy, and most importantly the principle-based art of crafting compelling stories. My aim in any game is threefold; first story, then immersion, and finally risk. The story will spearhead the play through a firm grasp of theme. Immersion will follow through means of visual, auditory, and thematic language. It's then completed with risk via threats to player characters, what they care about, and their decision-making processes in the game. I hope when you sit at my table you learn something about yourself through my unique storytelling experience. Soli Deo Gloria -GM Kairos of Kairos Narratives

Kairos is a great GM. I am a beginner in DND, and the first session I had did not disappoint. He was very nice, patient, and clear explaining the rules and gameplay. He had a great story, very beginner friendly, and had a great pace for everyone. He let the players run their fun ideas. I had a great time in the campaign with him and other players. I would recommend him.

As a newbie to D&D, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! He was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and fluent with technology, which made the game flow seamlessly. This was the most enjoyable game ever, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be part of it!

Very beginner friendly and a patient DM. Helpful to all and kept the game progressing at a great pace. Focused on Tale Spire combat and encouraging players to run their silly little ideas! I had great time with the GM and the party. 10/10 would recommend!

Kairos has a rules light approach that moves game mechanics to the background and roleplaying and combat at the forefront. Excellent narrative and player interactions. Everyone thanked Kairos for the excellent session. My character was killed by a dragon who carried him off and then dropped him from a thousand feet. But I stayed online and watched because like everyone - I was committed to see it through ti the end..

What Kairos Narratives brings to the table

Game Management I prioritize storytelling in my games. Therefore, this will be a rules light session. By nature of this session being a one-shot, you can expect narrative rich content and deliberate pacing in order to ensure you get the most out of your time spent with me. Character Creation/Management Characters will be level 3. DnD Beyond will be used for character creation. I will host the campaign on that site and provide all of the sourcebooks necessary for this adventure. Visual I will be using Talespire as a visual aid, and I will provide seats to the application so that players can use the application as well. Immersive Audio I will be using Talespire as an audio aid. Communication Discord will be used to communicate with each other.

Homebrew rules

Again, my games are ran rules light so dont feel like you need a strong understanding of them to play. That being said, here are a few homebrew rules I like to use. - Drink Potion as bonus action - x2 damage on the dice rolled for Critical hits - Targeted attacks for special effect at disadvantage - If a Critical is rolled on a contested skill check, the Critical wins out
