Sonder

Played 19 sessions

Sonder runs a very pleasant table with Out of Character clear communication, solid safety tools, and extremely enjoyable collaborative story telling. I've been in her Public Access game since it kicked off and she has great game aids to help the players understand the rules, which she is willing to patiently explain (and occasionally re-explain) to everyone. She knows how to flow with the mood of the table, allowing for both moments of hilarity and spine tingling anxiety horror within the same session of play without ever feeling forced or out of place. For her very reasonable prices, you can rest assured you'll get plenty of bang for your buck signing up with her. Strongly recommended!

Call of Cthulhu

Ran 66 sessions

Call of Cthulhu is an incredibly flexible system with mechanics which capture horror vibes like few other games. This much is well known. What I appreciate about it personally is how diverse a range of eras and scenarios it manages to portray, and the d100 percentile system under the hood makes for a fairly easy to understand character creation process. It's got just the right combination of mechanical depth with flexibility afforded to the GM to weave a really interesting narrative that can surprise everyone at the table.

Kel avatar

Kel

Fantastic DM who is happy to work with you and whatever wild character concept you come up with. Creative, funny and welcoming. Helpful with rules questions and always keeps the story moving so there's always something to see. The Community discord of Kel's games is filled with creative and pleasant players and all in all I highly recommend checking out his games.

GM James avatar

GM James

James is a passionate and helpful GM who is happy to help you understand both the setting and rules of the game he's running. He provided a clear understanding of the content expected in the game and was eager to answer any questions I had about it. If you'd like to learn about Lancer Battlegroup, or I imagine any other game he decides to run. James will be happy to walk you through the process and is good about seeking player feedback about the shared universe being built, and is patient in accepting feedback. I encourage you to give him a shot.

Travis is a fantastic DM who does a great job weaving narrative elements together and creating an open atmosphere for collaboration. He is well informed on the rules and patient when explaining (Or even re-explaining) anything players need to know to have a positive experience, and works hard to make sure everyone at the table feels included in the session. Travis has also been good about being upfront with safety tools such as lines and veils, so there have been no incidents where unexpected themes have caused player upset. I've been playing in his Girl by Moonlight game for several months now, and it has been some of the most fun I've had on Start Playing games so far. I highly recommend this talented and creative DM to anyone who enjoys narratively focused collaborative storytelling, as well as anyone who wants to play in a story where their character will have a strong influence on the world.
