Oh my Gods, Sov is an amazing DM!!! My wife and I, Gen X TTRPG kids, play in the 'Two to Tango' game and we affectionately call it 'Couples Therapy'. And, let me tell you, no more would you frown upon going to therapy if it was this much fun! So, in an intro that was supposed to be a narrative description of a simple ocean crossing, has turned into a thing all of its own. As players, being naturally curious, especially given our respective Classes, we started asking simple questions like, 'What do they look like? How are they holding themselves? Do I see any shinys worth attention?'. Well, what was supposed to be a 15-minute intro has turned into Fox's 24... 'THE FOLLOWING EVENTS TAKE PLACE BETWEEN 10:00am AND 11:00aM ABOARD THE SAILING VESSEL 'XXX XXXXXXXXXXX'. ALL EVENTS OCCUTR IN REAL TIME.' It's been four months and we are on day two. Sov leaned into our play style provided challenges at every decision, effortlessly crafting NPC's to interact with on a whim chance, creating narratives beneath narratives so that we've been so immersed in just the damn boat and the people we stole our tickets from, that I can't WAIT to see what he actually prepared! Provided we don't die. Anyway, I highly encourage you to enlist him as your Game Master and don't be afraid to be creative! Ask him to dazzle you with a One-Shot (or Three Shot 🤣) or throw out an idea for a Campaign Setting you've always wanted to do, but never had a GM with a skill level to pull it off. In the end, he's definitely worth 5 out of 5.
OMG, we had a blast!!! A group of friends and I crashed the 'Diabolical Cuddles' One-Shot with a themed-party and Jon leaned into and played with us. He's a great story teller, keeping us engaged as we played but also allowing for our 'tomfoolery'. Character portrayals were great, the VTT setting helped sell the story and so forth. At the end of the day, we had a great time and I am definitely setting him to one of my 'Follwed' DM's!
So, as an 'Old Skool' D&D Player (think the 1984 red box Basic Set), I am loving seeing the 'NextGen' come along and take up the mantle! Latte's games that I have played him have provided not only challenging combat, creative puzzles and such, but intricate worlds filled with all manner of Side Quests...if you know where to look or happen to run into the right person, place or thing. Great NPCs, creative voices, custom music, the R20 experience and deep RaW knowledge but also encourages creativity. When I say that, it's not hyperbole; they let me totally flavor an offshoot of Thri-kreen called Thri-rachne and now I'm a tiny spider girl in space!!! Anyway, definitely recommend hitting them up for a One-Shot or an open seat at a Campaign table as you won't be disappointed!
We loved the idea of the interconnected One-Shots and were so happy with our game! Davey was an amazing storyteller and kept the game moving and ensured everyone had an opportunity to participate. We also enjoyed his 'Mini-Game' at the beginning to break the ice. It was so much fun and allowed us to immediately connect with our fellow Party members. Have already signed up for three more sessions!
