About Samantha

I am a professional VO actor who got into ttrpgs in 2020 and has been GMing since 2022. I have over 30 years of performance training, including UCB improv, so I am great at handling any curveballs players might throw. Other careers I’ve had including singing, writing, editing, and directing—all of which I try to incorporate into my sessions. I love the “rule of cool” and have GMed for tables as big as 9 and as small as 1. I prefer to run original homebrew plots or third-party adventures. I am only interested in inclusive tables actually interested in working together. My tables are open to players of all races, genders, and/or sexual orientations.

I became a GM because

I love storytelling (I've been a writer and editor for ten years now) and love the experience that comes with group storytelling, and the unique way that the dice have such an impact the story despite not being a sentient "player" in the game at all.

My favorite shows/movies are

Sinners, The Twilight Zone, Schitt's Creek, Buffy/Angel, Charmed, Doctor Who, Westworld, Supernatural, A Discovery of Witches, Penny Dreadful, Gravity Falls, Attack on Titan, P&P (&Z), Avatar the Last Air Bender/Legend of Kora, Pushing Daisies, anything by Michael Schur, and the newest D&D movie.

When I'm not running games I'm...

either recording (voice over, music), writing, or chasing after my toddler (being a stay-at-home-mom in this day and age is a crazy thing).

How Samantha runs games

I love role play, unique world building, and stories built around player characters. You have ten page backstory? I’m the GM for you! You have no backstory because you need to discover one as we play? I can totally work with that too! For me, the story comes from the decisions PCs make when they are faced with situations that challenge their core beliefs. Character arcs are my main focus as a GM as I believe that’s where many players truly have the most fun.

Samantha's ideal table

I like to have an inclusive table. I typically GM for the "gals, gays, and theys," especially those who are neurodivergent, like myself. I default to the "rule of cool," so my table has a relaxed vibe around rules. I love a table that role plays, works together, and loves intricate world building.

I think it's a red flag when players...

give the excuse of "it's what my character would do" to get away with being an a**hole to another player. This is a group game, so if your character doesn't ever want to get along with others or grow and change at all, I am not the GM for you.

My perfect party mix is

one that works together. I do think most tables need a healer, a cinnamon roll, a himbo, a know-it-all, and a chaos monster who will absolutely touch the cursed item.

My table is not the place for...

any kind of racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia -- basically, if you're going to identify with any group of people who bullies and puts others down, I am not the GM for you.
