About RoguishGM

I am a non-practicing white man that is a feminist and father. I believe everyone deserves rights and wont tolerate hate or disrespect to anyone at the table. I have been playing ttrpgs for 15 years and running them for at least 10. I want to be able to provide everyone with a chance to play and love having new players at my table so I can share this great experience with them! I have the most knowledge about D&D, but love to branch out and play all sorts of games!

My favorite system of all Time is

Genesys from Fantasy Flight Games. I don't think they make it anymore, but it is setting agnostic and can be used as a base for any setting.

How RoguishGM runs games

I enjoy a mix of roleplay and combat, but primarily enjoy telling collaborative stories and watching a world be built as we go. I improv a lot of my story elements on the fly and use Obsidian to keep track of everything as I go so I don't lose the names I come up with or funny voice ideas I chose for an NPC. I use Roll20 for my VTT but may upgrade later and handle all chat through Discord. I make world maps in Wonderdraft and battle maps that I have to have customized in Incarnate.

Fun. It's a game, we should be having fun! Now, that being said, I have done a fair tear-jerking performance for my players in the past!

Rules are...

Guidelines that I follow until it impedes on the fun and I can make a better rule to swap it with! Unless we're talking site rules then we follow them to the letter.

When it comes to voices

I can do a few that are passable, but am no voice actor. My Scots is decent, though my Irish could be better. My Gollum is fantastic though!

My ideal table is a group of folks that respect each other by showing up on time and take the plot of the story we chose in session 0 to heart. Especially if it was a joke game.

I think metagaming...

Is a grey area. If you use it to speed up combat in a reasonable fashion, like you figure out that the AC is either 13 or 14 and you got a 16 and STATE that, that's fine. If you use knowledge that your character would never know or didnt roll high enough for to plan an answer to the problem, NOPE.

I think min/maxing...

Is fine, because I can make CRAZY encounters in response! Let's all go BIG! Makes for a fun story and a good time!
