About Rik
I've played D&D since I was a little kid, and I grew up playing games like D&D, Gamma World, Rifts, Cyberpunk, Vampire and other World of Darkness games, and even a few I wrote and designed myself. I’ve run thousands of games over the years, and my favorite part of being a GM is building a compelling story and watching players bring it to life through their choices. It's all about creating a collaborative story and having fun! I love it when the whole table just clicks and we create a scene together that comes alive in our minds and sticks with us for a long time. Those moments that become electric and get talked about later... "Remember that time..." My tables are inclusive, respectful, and friendly. New players get support, veterans get depth, and everyone gets a moment to shine.

How Rik runs games
I build worlds that feel alive: layered mysteries, NPCs with real motives, and encounters that reward curiosity, clever thinking, and teamwork. Expect immersive storytelling, thoughtful pacing, and encounters designed to make every player feel cool in their own way. I run with a balance of structure and flexibility. I’m consistent with rules and upfront about expectations, but I’m fine with the occasional rule‑of‑cool moment if it fits the scene. My job is to set the stage and give you the space to make meaningful choices that shape the story and let you be the hero.

I deal with rules issues by...
Setting clear expectations at the start of the game. I'm happy to look up a rule if there's a conflict (who knows every rule by heart?), and I try and make a judgement that feels fair to everyone. I'll tolerate a little bit of banter to sway me, but I won't get into drawn-out arguments.
I prep by
Planning the story beats. Creating some scenes I want to showcase. Building interesting hooks/mechanics. For a typical one-shot, I like to hit a few standard beats: premise, investigate, skill challenge for boons/banes, small fight, boss fight. I love easter eggs, twists & Boss Fights that rock.
When it comes to voices
Not gonna lie, I will do some voices but unless you like Aussie, Saff Lahndan or "vaguely russo-european" you might be underwhelmed. :)
Rik's ideal table
My ideal table is curious, inclusive, and adventurous. You don’t have to be great at RP or know every rule by heart & I don’t care if you’re a veteran or brand‑new player. As long as you’re here to collaborate on telling a cool story and creating amazing moments, we're going to have a good time.
