About Lore Keeper Sam

"Tromping through the damp undergrowth of this mossy green forest, the dim light slowly brightens as the morning sun stretches and rises from its slumber. You and your companions have already been on the move for a couple of hours, rising before the sun to get a head start on day. The subtle scent of salt lazily wandering between the trees reminds you of the harrowing battle just days previously. Nobody told you that the waters around the island were guarded by a storm giant. There, there it is! Oh just up the trail, a clearing just where the map said it should be. Coming up to the clearing you see a small human with mixed caramel skin and dark curly hair. He sits calmly cross-legged with a small cup of tea steaming on the ground next to him as he joyfully strums an ashwood lute and occasionally taps on a purpleheart djembe. Before him sits a few dice and some scraps of paper next to small wooden figurines. You have found him. Your Keeper of Lore. Lore Keeper Sam. Upon the sound of your approach he sets down his instruments and looks up smiling to greet you. He welcomes you to join him for a collaborative storytelling experience he hopes will delight and excite while he offers some tea if you’d like." Many of my adventures live in Odran, the homebrew world I've been building for the past 7 years. Not all take place there but many do. I consider my role as a Keeper of Lore, to be your Archfey guide through the world of Odran. If you enjoy high fantasy, exploration, role-play, shenanigans, improv, and deep and extensive lore, I think you'll enjoy Odran. LORT, GOT, Pirates of the Caribbean, Disney, D20, Crit Role, The Mist, Bloodborne, Dark Souls, Assassin's Creed, Arcane, if you are into that kind of media, you will likely understand where a big chunk of my inspiration comes from. I currently work as a Professional Lore Keeper with Badwolf Adventure Studios and have been Lore Keeping for over 6 years in 5e. I've played and run other systems including Vampire: The Masquerade, Kids on Bikes, Honey Heist, and Call of Cthulhu but 5e is my main system. Browse through the games and campaigns I offer and find something interesting, or feel free to message me if you want to set up a custom one-shot, mini-series, or campaign. I'm always open to making something custom designed for your group.

How Lore Keeper Sam runs games

First and foremost, I'm professional. I work as a professional Lore Keeper with Badwolf Entertainment Studios, so you can expect professional quality in everything I do. There are a few things you can expect from any game with me. 1)Safety I take safety very seriously. I have a zero tolerance policy on harassment or abuse at the table of any kind. I discuss safety tools at the beginning of every game and expect them to be respected. 2)Rule of Cool First, we are here to have fun not to ruin our friends' cool ideas. And secondly, if it breaks the rules but is so cool we don't care, then I don't see where the problem is, go ahead do it! Thirdly, the rules are more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules. 3)Character Voices I love em! I'll do them for most NPCs and creatures. I always encourage players to do character voices too, but that is never a requirement. Just makes distinguishing between in-game chat and above table chat a little easier. 4)Roleplay It depends on the game. Some games have very little roleplay, some have lots. If I have the opportunity to roleplay an NPC or creature, I love to do so very charismatically and emotively. I definitely love to get into character and yes, I have been known to cry on command. 5)Bio-Breaks We all need em! In my games feel free to use the bathroom whenever you need. I just ask that you let at least one other person know. Same thing goes for the Keeper of Lore! I might tell you to take some time to discuss a plan together, or in combat tell you that you all have a split moment to plan your next moves so that I can go. This rule goes for everyone at the table and is especially important in longer sessions. 6)Descriptions If you were to put a label on my style of narration it would be descriptive. I tend towards very sensory descriptions often going out of the way to mention temperature, weather, smells, and textures, along with what you can see. 7)Atmosphere and Props I love maps! Many of my adventures include maps or other "handouts" that players will have access to. I always try to include music! I like to curate a very welcoming environment for players of all experiences and play styles. Teamwork and collaboration is always encouraged as this is a collaborative storytelling effort after all. 8)Curious and Strange My personal favorite plane is the feywild. As a Keeper of Lore, a player, and as a real human, I'm unabashedly a chaotic neutral archfey bard.
