About James Windus
Hello my name is James and I have been playing tabletop rpgs since I was 6 years old. I am a second generation nerd who loves running games in a variety of systems and would love to craft a campaign specific for you.

I became a GM because
I wanted to tell stories with my friends, for us all to feel like the main character of our favorite media.
I got started GMing...
When I was thirteen years old. I'm actually running the adventure again now all these years later as a way to show myself how far I have come.
My favorite books are
Any of Brandon Sandersons Comere books, A Wise Mans Fear (book two of King Killer), Babel by RF Kuang.
How James Windus runs games
I DM by the system I am using. Systems like Lancer that are built to be highly tactical combats I run that way. Systems like Monster hearts which are meant to be a little more rules lose with a focus on story and characters I run that way. I always put a focus on description and NPC characters in order to allow my players to become immersed.

My favorite trope is...
A last ditch Hail Mary that works.
Rules are...
There to facilitate the story and the enjoyment. If they don't do that the rules change so that they do.
When it comes to voices
I love for my NPCs to feel like real individuals.
James Windus's ideal table
I like tables that include players who are invested in interested in the story and world around them. Players who take note and ask questions. Who are kind to each other and work together to come up with thought out solutions to the problems they face.

I think metagaming...
Is fine if it makes sense for the character to have similar knowledge. Plus as a DM you can change stats of creatures, the worlds lore, ect. So metagaming can sometimes lead you astray.
I think min/maxing...
Is fine in small doses. If one player ends up being stronger than the rest of the party, it is up to the DM to compensate. Perhaps there is a strong opponent that only they stand a chance against so they need to keep them busy. Something like that.
My table is not the place for...
Bigotry, deliberately antagonizing other players, players who want their characters actions to have no reasonable consequences.
