About Forestbrew

My D&D journey began in the late ’70s with Gygax and Arneson’s original set and trusty six-sided dice. Thanks to my grandfather near Lake Geneva, I got to visit the legendary Dungeon Hobby Shop—the only place to buy TSR games back then—and even attended some of the earliest GenCons, soaking in the magic of those early days. Through college and beyond, I played everything from quick one-shots to epic campaigns. Virtual tabletops later opened the door to global games that fit around work and family life. I’ve explored countless RPGs: all editions of D&D, AD&D, Traveller, Boot Hill, Call of Cthulhu, Top Secret, and even quirky gems like the ’80s Dragon Magazine’s Food Fight! I’m all about immersive role-play, encouraging players to fully inhabit their characters and collaborate while staying true to their unique styles. My approach balances rulings over rigid rules, keeping sessions smooth, fun, and fast-paced for veterans and newcomers alike. When I’m not crafting stories or rolling dice, you’ll find me enjoying family time, thriving professionally, or relaxing in my Adirondack chair with a good book and a refreshing Pimm’s Cup #1.

My favorite trope is...

A Grimdark Dungeon Crawl - Exploration of dangerous, labyrinthine dungeons filled with deadly traps, lurking monsters, and hidden treasures. Survival against overwhelming odds.Mysterious and malevolent forces lurking in the shadows. Reluctant heroes or anti-heroes. Old-school, minimalist rules.

My games focus on...

As an experienced Dungeon Master, I craft creative worlds and captivating stories that pull players in from the very first session. My games focus on rich plotlines, deep character backstories, and immersive narratives—all paced comfortably to keep everyone engaged.

Rules are...

While rules are essential for keeping everyone on the same page, when they get tricky or unclear, I confidently make rulings that keep the adventure flowing smoothly.

Forestbrew's ideal table

Step into my Shadowdark or D&D campaigns, where danger lurks in every shadow and survival is never guaranteed. The vibe is intense, gritty, and thrilling—a true test of wit, courage, and resourcefulness. Expect a living, breathing dungeon full of deadly traps, scarce resources, and cunning foes that keep you constantly on edge. My table is perfect for players who love tactical challenges, creative problem-solving, and old-school dungeon crawling with a modern twist. Here, your choices matter, and characters are vulnerable adventurers, not invincible heroes. Teamwork is key, but so is clever individual play—boldness balanced with caution wins the day. The atmosphere is serious and collaborative, filled with tension and suspense but also moments of hard-earned triumph. Humor pops up naturally through player creativity and the game’s dark surprises, never at the expense of the stakes. If you’re drawn to eerie dungeons, ancient secrets, and a grim fantasy world that rewards sharp thinking and embraces harsh realities, you’ll feel right at home at my table.
