About DMLeon
Hi! My name's Leon, and I've been running D&D for over 15 years now. I began running tabletop games with my own homebrew systems and had years of player experience in various different games before that. Since the launch of 5th Edition I have been running it, as I was a little too late to the 4th Ed party. Since the near end-times of 2020 I've been running games online for friends around the world and getting paid for it. I absolutely love Dungeons&Dragons, I'm constantly thinking of campaign ideas, plot twists, new storylines, npc voices, dialogue lines to throw at my players, new magical items, feats, subclasses, races, everything! I'm experienced in running both adventure modules or homebrewing campaigns of my own construction. I strive to make my players feel at home in the fantastical worlds I guide them through and tailor story beats to their beloved characters. To me, I really hold to the notion that TTRPGs are cooperative story-telling experiences. I'm big on my campaigns, sessions, and stories, require a good amount of both give and take. You invest your ideas and passion with me, and I'll return it tenfold~!

I got started GMing...
To make friends. To be more painfully honest, I starrted GMing because nobody else would. I had been a player for roughly five years at that point, played in multiple campaigns, but had never seen one come to a conclusion. I found some strays that were interested but had never tried a TTRPG before.
People are always surprised when I tell them
I'm an introvert. Like REALLY introverted. My social battery dies in a matter of minutes. But, this has never applied to GMing. I've ran games for multiple days in a row and for incredibly long periods of time. The longest single session I have run to date lasted 13 hours. In person.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Playing games, watching movies/series, or working on campaign related things. I spend a lot of time brainstorming for my games. From practicing voices, to thinking of fun new magic items, and devising cool twists to the stories I weave.
How DMLeon runs games
I respect each pillar of TTRPGs; explorations, roleplay, and combat. Ofcourse, the style of my campaigns or oneshots are tailored to my players expectations, but for me personally, I love to run roleplay and combat heavy games. I love exploring characters and moving forward a spiralling narrative, whether that comes in the form of high-stakes political intrigue through warring kingdoms, or unraveling the mysteries of the Farrealm why battling existential crisis. I've had the most fun creating intricate and demanding combat scenarios that go beyond hacking the baddies to 0HP, and exploring social scenes that players get to deeply express or explore their characters.

When it comes to voices
I try my best. I practice accents. I practice lowering and raising the pitch of my voice. I practice speaking in various different cadences. I try my damndest to make each of my NPCs feel and at least sound different. I want my players to know who they are talking to without me telling them.
DMLeon's ideal table
I like groups big enought to bring character diversity into the ring while being small enough to allow each character a moment to shine at any given time. Of course we all want players who are nice and will get along, but I want players that are invested. In turn I am more than willing to put in the work to get them invested. For me TTRPGs are a two-way street, what you give me will be returned to you with interest. Show me that you care for the campaign and your character, for the players around you and theirs, and I shall give you my all to create a story we will both be proud of.

I love it when a player
Brings a beloved character to life. It's absolutely incredible watching my players grow alongside their characters over the course of an adventure. I want people to bring the Hero they fantasized about or dreampt up when they were a child to life in my campaigns. My table is that safe space.
I think min/maxing...
Is fine to some degree. When it comes to any of the three pillars (Combat, Exploration, Roleplay) people want to live that power fantasy. And that's fine by me. But, your character needs to be beleivable. Real people have flaws.
