About David Hofmann

Hail and Well-met! My name is Dave and I make stuff. By trade, I make and paint props and costumes for film, television, and cosplay. I have been playing in and running table top games for over 10 years, mainly DnD in its various forms but others as well. Some of my favorite to play and run, besides DnD are Blades in the Dark and The Quiet Year. I very much enjoy incorporating different systems into the same campaign, home brew rules and mechanics, and player input. I am definitely fine sticking to the written rules and boundaries, but find that collaboration and improv in campaigns makes games much more fun and compelling for my players. Whether is a one-shot or a years long life of adventure, if you're looking for a good time, and a fulfilling story, I'm your bard.

How David Hofmann runs games

Every person, every party, and every game is different. I enjoy getting to know my table and crafting stories based on both characters and personal preferences. I'm great with following the books, and rules, and pre-written stories and dynamics, but prefer to base campaigns off players. A great example: I had a group that wanted to play StarWars 5e, but in character creation, I wound up with a table full of Clone soldiers. So instead of going by the book, I made a campaign full of war style, tactical battles and politics. No Jedi, no Sith, no space magic. I had to create mechanics that fit the story and their needs, and imagine battalions for them to both command and fight in. I am comfortable running a range of content levels from child appropriate to more mature themes. I very much encourage my players to dive head first into these worlds with me. I do charter voices (as best I can) and I think it's more fun if everyone sounds a bit silly. Unless requested otherwise, I adhere mostly to the rule of cool. If you want to break my game with some crazy combination of hare brained schemes and mechanics exploits, please do, we're here to have fun.
