About Brian Allen

Hello there! I'm Brian. I've been playing TTRPGs on and off for over 30 years. My first ever TTRPG experience was as a DM in a game that I wrote for my brother and cousin when I was 18. I've played and run many games in several systems since then, usually as the GM. I am the typical "Forever GM", and I love it! I enjoy story-focused games with lots of roleplay and combat. I do my best to make sure no one feels left out, giving everyone their time in the spotlight. Systems and titles I offer games in: Dungeons & Dragons 5e - Spelljammer - Planescape - Homebrew Marvel Multiverse RPG Lancer Savage Worlds I run an open and inclusive table; all are welcome. I am neuro-divergent friendly, LGBTQ+ friendly, and beginner friendly. I am physically disabled and neurodivergent, myself, and I know what it's like to deal with adversity; I can relate. I have a background in broadcasting and media production and like to incorporate what I've learned through my career in my games, including detailed maps, atmospheric music, voices, and focus on presentation and a good time for all involved. So come adventure with me! Bookings are open now.

I became a GM because

I didn't know anyone else who wanted to do it! I always wanted to play D&D and decided the only way it was going to happen was if I ran the game myself.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be

D&D5e, Savage Worlds, Cyberpunk Red

When I'm not running games I'm...

I'm a graphic designer and media producer. For fun I enjoy gaming, reading and audio/video production.

How Brian Allen runs games

I'm very beginner-friendly and enjoy introducing new players to the hobby. I'm also neurodivergent-friendly, having years of experience working with the Special Needs Community. I run an inclusive table, all are welcome. I'm very Theater of the Mind oriented but use maps to supplement the game. I appreciate roleplay and encourage it, but do not expect you to do a voice or an accent. You know your character, their personality, their motives. All I expect from a player is to put yourself in your character's headspace and let that inform your actions.

I deal with rules issues by...

I mediate disputes, research questions, and make a ruling based on the outcome.

Rules are...

I run my games rules as written for the most part, with a few minor table rules.

When it comes to voices

I try to do voices. Feel free to point and laugh at me!

Brian Allen's ideal table

My ideal party size is 5 players. I will not go over 6 players and will not go below 3. The general vibe of my table is somewhat laid back, with a good balance of roleplay and combat. My table is open and inclusive, welcoming to players of all persuasions.

I love it when a player

surprises me. I also like it when players at least attempt to roleplay.

I think metagaming...

is cheating.

I think min/maxing...

is fine as long as it's not done with "winning" the game is the intention.
