About Ali
Hello! I’m Ali, and I’m a creative juggernaut. I’ve been running weekly TTRPG games for over a decade. My games balance all three pillars of play: roleplay, exploration, and combat. I particularly enjoy character-driven adventures, and I love improvising around the often surprising choices players make. I’ll let you get creative and expressive with your character, then drop them into a world that will challenge them and shape itself around their choices. If you’re new, I’ll help you understand character creation and game mechanics at a pace that’s comfortable for you.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
None. I'd make up my own system that uses sticks as pens, sand as character sheets, and sea shells as D2's. (Maybe a sea-urchin as a D100?)
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Adaptable - Very good at running with player ideas, and changing the direction of entire sessions based off player shenanigans. Fun - Has a good instinct for when to keep things serious, or more lighthearted. Passionate - Loves to collaborate & answer campaign questions outside of session time.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Doing campaign prep, listening to audiobooks, watching movies, playing videogames, cuddling my dog, playing 40k, 3D printing miniatures then painting them, charity volunteering, working retail & hospitality, practicing my NPC voices in the shower.
How Ali runs games
My games focus on strong character-driven roleplay, meaningful exploration, and tactical combat with real stakes. I aim for a balanced experience where no pillar of play is neglected, and where player choices genuinely shape the world and story. If you like grounded, gritty fantasy worlds that are peppered with fun and humour, you’ll feel welcome here. My toolkit includes the VTTs Roll20, Alchemy, and Talespire. I use Discord for voice and Inkarnate for battlemap creation.

My favorite trope is...
A town guard on night watch, holding a lantern, saying: "Who goes there?" and "State your business!".
Rules are...
To facilitate fun. Limitation begets creativity and without rules a game can become an inconsistent mess. This is not to say i'm against "rule of cool" however... If a rule gets in the way of fun, we'll ignore it or change it together.
When it comes to voices
I will match your energy. I love it when players use in-character voices and I will always match their energy with my own NPC voices. If you do not feel comfortable using a character voice, I will never put any pressure on you to use one.
Ali's ideal table
I love players who take risks, use their backstories, and try creative solutions instead of just optimal ones. I am patient with newbies and expect the same level of patience from any experienced player at my table. Immersion, enthusiasm, and sharing the spotlight are big at my table.

I love it when a player
Isn’t afraid to grab the reins and throw something into the story, because it shows they trust me to catch it and build on it. When they add details, take bold actions, or invent connections, it gives me something to "yes-and" instead of just pushing them along.
I think it's a red flag when players...
- Steal the spotlight. - Debate something mid-scene in a way that slows play. - Don't treat PvP and mind-control abilities on other players as consent-based.
My table is not the place for...
Gatekeepers... New players are always welcome and treated with patience & respect! Politics... Any references to political, ideological, or social concepts are narrative devices only and are not intended to critique, or promote any real-world views.
