About the adventure

Do you seek fortune and glory? If you are, then there is no better place than the city of Waterdeep, where lies the famous Yawning Portal. At first glance, the famous tavern may seem no more than a tourist trap or a place where wannabe adventures hang out. There is more beneath its surface though. Quite more in fact. For you see, the tavern gets its name from the large circular hole that it was built around. It’s no mere ordinary hole either. It’s an entrance to the Undermountain. A vast network of tunnels and structures built long ago. Brave adventures who descend into the entrance and explore the Undermountain are sure to find fame and more importantly, treasure. That is, unless they find death instead. This campaign, Dungeon of the Mad King is a massive 23 floor dungeon. You will play an intrepid adventurer, eager to make their legend, by exploring and surviving the Undermountain. Each floor is packed with denizens, dangers and death for the careless. This campaign will take your character from level 5 to 20, so those that are in for the long hall, will get to experience the high level gameplay that so few campaigns offer. While this is a singular massive dungeon, that doesn’t mean it’s all combat, all the time. While the overarching story may be on the light side of things, each floor is still brimming with roll playing opportunities and intrigue. Think of each floor as a mini adventure. This is the very beginning of the adventure and the perfect time to jump in. Please only join if you haven’t played this adventure before or have seen it played. Because of the puzzles, mysteries and surprises, it isn’t fair to the other players, when one already knows everything that awaits. The game itself is played in Roll20, but we will be using Discord for Roll20. I will be using a camera for video chat, but players are not required to use video. Only using voice chat is perfectly acceptable. I will also be streaming campaign and situational appropriate music through Discord, that players will have the option to listen to, to help immerse themselves in the game.

How to prepare

You will need to be able to voice chat through Discord. While I will be using a camera myself, you are not required to use one. Only using voice chat is perfectly acceptable.

What I provide

I will be streaming campaign and situation specific music, that players have the option listening too while playing to help immerse themselves. I will also provide art, from the campaign book, as it comes up in the campaign.

Gameplay details

This is an exploration based campaign with sandbox elements. There will be plenty of opportunities for both combat and roll play.

How will character creation work

Character creation will most likely happen before the first session, but it may happen at the beginning of the first session as well. Characters will be starting at level 5.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
