About Belle
Just your average nerd trying to play more d&d. Have you ever had a friend be volun-told to DM a game? That was me. But then I loved it, so here we are. I enjoy puns, silly side plots, and trying to not laugh when my players come up with wacky ideas like drowning the ogre using an immovable rod. I run 5e content (sorry no auto success for a nat 20). I do use supplemental material to add in or take things out to make the game run in a smoother/more exciting way. So even if you've played a module before, it'll be different this time around! I've currently run: Curse of Strahd π§ π©Έ Tomb of annihilation π¦π΄ Lost mine of Phandelver β°οΈπ‘οΈ Out of the Abyss ππΏ Storm King's Thunder π©οΈπ Wild beyond the Witchlight π π§π½ Dungeon of the Mad Mage β°οΈπ§πΌ Vecna - Eve of Ruin ποΈποΈ I have wrapped up the above games in about 12 months (Curse of Strahd lasted 15 months, Mad mage is still ongoing but will likely last 2 years) If you are looking for a DM for a corporate event, message me for prices. I've done both entertainment and team building events. πBtw the banner pictures are art that a player did for the various shenanigans that happened over a few campaigns. I became a GM because
I wanted to play with my friend group but we couldn't decide which of us first time players should run the game. So, they decided to buy ME the Dms guide and Tomb of annihilation for Christmas. And so it was decided.
When I'm not running games I'm...
usually playing videogames. My favorite series is Final Fantasy. Lately I've been sucked into Clair Obscur.
How Belle runs games
π²I love role-play with players, and between players but don't force it on anyone. Some of us are just here for the combat, am I right? π²Reward ingenuity to overcome obstacles. π²I do NPC voices, but they are not great. Guaranteed to make you chuckle. π²I used to be a teacher, so have no problems making sure everyone is getting a fair chance to participate. No one man show here... Unless it's a solo campaign, then by all means enjoy yourself. π²Rule of cool flies at my table more often then not. (RAI over RAW) If the exact wording in the book is something you plan your entire character build around, this might not be the table for you. π²Ability to adjust to table vibes. You want crunchy combat? done. You want an old school "pretzels & beer" chill vibe? done. (Though I easily excel at the relaxed lots of laughs vibe). The table vibes will largly dictate how the game is run (1 low key player with 4 crunchy ones will likely lead to an overall crunchier game) π²I prefer online via discord, dndbeyond, and roll20. A typical game with me is: ππππππ: βοΈβοΈβοΈ ππππππππ: ππππ πππππππππππ: πΊοΈπΊοΈπΊοΈ πππππππ: π§©π§© ππππ πππππ: πππ Though these do depend on the campaign in question! Please check individual campaign ads for more details.

I deal with rules issues by...
Giving the issue 30 seconds to look up. If an answer isn't found by them, I make a ruling. That way the game can continue, and anything that takes longer than that to find the answer for can be done after the session.
Rules are...
a way to keep the game balanced and fun for all. But also meant to be broken when you want to use a shield to surf down a banister going triple your movement, ramming a door and breaking it down.
Belle's ideal table
Players that roleplay between themselves Players that like to gobble up plot hooks and get invested in the story Players that like to be descriptive with attacks and actions instead of just reducing it to "I hit him for XX, end turn". Players that enjoy a relaxed vibe, but also expect there to be moments of seriousness and tension.

I think it's a red flag when players...
excuse their bad table behaviour with "it's what my character would do" (things like stealing from the party/lying to the party/betraying the party). Well.. it's what the group would do to boot you out of the adventuring party.
I think metagaming...
ruins a lot of the fun/tension of the game. I combat this by: * Changing monsters from the standard stat block (including resistances) * Not allowing conversation while in death saves
I think min/maxing...
has a place, but mostly in one-shots. It can really disrupt the balance/fun/teamwork of the game unless the whole group is doing it.
