About the adventure

You will need tabletop simulator to play this campaign. Adventure has a game and it's BROKEN COMPASS. Broken Compass is an action adventure RPG inspired by games and movies like Uncharted, Indiana Jones, The Mummy and even Tomb Raider. In this highly cinematic, fast paced narrative game you will be playing adventurers seeking ancient treasures, lost cities and maybe even cursed relics! You'll need your wits, your skills and a whole lot of luck because as they say, fortune favours the bold! This is the start of a brand new season of episodes where you will be playing adventurers during the 1940s. You will be journeying to Egypt in search of the Book of Thoth, ancient texts supposedly written by Thoth the Egyptian god of knowledge and writing and said to contain the knowledge of the gods! However life as an adventurer is never that simple, you are not the only ones in pursuit of this book as rumour has it the Nazis have sent over their own expedition team! Will you find the book or will the Nazis claim the knowledge of the gods? Your adventure begins now!

How to prepare

You will need to have purchased and downloaded tabletop simulator in order to use the game mod and play this campaign. You will also need to install discord and set up an account so I can invite you to our discord server. You will also need a mic or a headset of some kind. Dice, character sheets and everything else are provided through tabletop simulator.

What I provide

I have created and worked on the Broken Compass tabletop simulator mod which will provide everything we need for the game. You'll have access to the Broken Compass manuals through the mod, the dice and the character sheets will be fully modifiable allowing you to create and store characters easily.

Gameplay details

Broken Compass is a narrative driven adventure game, it uses simple mechanics and also gives the players lots of agency allowing them to think outside of the box and create truly cinematic moments. It's mechanics are unique, requiring you not to roll a specific number but instead to roll 2 of a kind, 3 of a kind, 4 of a kind ...etc. The first session of Broken compass is a pilot episode where we will create characters and also bring the team together for the adventure. Each session of Broken Compass is an episode while a campaign is a Season. Season One of Broken Compass is going to be roughly the length of a Netflix season at about 10 sessions including the pilot. Sessions follow the tropes of the action adventure genre with a mixture of a role-playing, combat, action sequences and even some puzzles. Combat is very free-form and cinematic, there is no counting hexes and there's a lot of player agency on what you can do in a round.

How will character creation work

Character creation will be done during the first session which will be free to play. It's quick and easy and should allow you to create all kinds of adventurers. If you come with a concept in mind, that's great, you can also completely randomise the character or even randomise parts of the character creation process if you wish.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
