About me

Greetings, fellow adventurers! I’m Gerik, your dedicated Pathfinder 2e Game Master! For years, I’ve been immersed in the world of Golarion, guiding brave heroes through its fantastical world. I bring a blend of creativity, humor, and immersive storytelling to every session. I take heavy inspiration from shows like Narrative Declaration/Glass Cannon Podcast, and look to foster a table community where everyone can laugh together and feel welcome. I have been described as theatrical, high-energy, and a bit of a madman when playing a nefarious villain. But above all, I am a GM who wants you to have a good time, and I'll do my best to make that happen! But don't just take my word for it, check out my reviews to see what others have to say!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players should start by reading the War for the Crown Player's Guide: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FL_jbxPNXXJGC40zBOQxSICMfNLjqysv/view?usp=sharing. Keep in mind that this is a conversion, so the guide should be used to help inform how you want your character to fit within the story. The mechanical character options presented in the guide are not applicable. More campaign tips are outlined in the discord channels. Please avoid all wikis about this adventure, its setting, and its characters. Since it is an older published adventure, the wiki is full of spoilers! I have provided spoiler-free materials within my Discord channels. Our first session will be a combination session 0/1. We'll work together to ensure everyone's characters fit within the adventure narrative and finalize any character builds and backstories. This adventure will involve an extensive amount of politicking and political intrigue, so characters solely focused on combat will not be a good fit. Players should endeavor to build around having a broad skillset, especially since Diplomacy isn't the only skill used to influence people! Events in War for the Crown rely as much on calm words and a winning smile as they do a sharp blade, and while combat will present itself, characters who can blend into the social scene or investigate strange events will find more opportunities to shine. Characters that revolve around rugged wilderness themes or with few options outside of combat will have less to do in many parts of the story. Getting into a roleplaying mindset is a must! Players in my games are encouraged to explore their characters' motivations and personal growth, and how their unique personalities, values, and desires shape their actions and evolve.

Handmade, reimagined custom maps built for this conversion. Additional Premium map content provided when needed. Extensive Foundry module curation to ensure as streamlined an experience as possible. Let the system do the heavy lifting for you. Custom-designed soundtrack for immersion and setting the tone of our adventure!

Homebrew rules

As an Optional rule, players can decide during session 0 if they would like to use the following death mechanics: Inspired by Daggerheart, when a player character is about to die, they have an opportunity to make one of the following death moves. 1. Blaze of Glory: Your character embraces death and goes out in a blaze of glory. Take one action (at the GM’s discretion), which critically succeeds, then cross through the veil of death. 2. Avoid Death: Your character avoids death and faces the consequences. They temporarily drop unconscious, and then you work with the GM to describe how the situation worsens. Your character can’t move or act while unconscious, they can’t be targeted by an attack, and they return to consciousness when an ally heals their wounds or when the party finishes a long rest. After your character falls unconscious, roll a d20. If its value is equal to or under your character’s level, they gain a scar. The scar is represented mechanically by a permanent, doomed condition. When the doomed condition reaches its maximum, that character must cease adventuring and retire.

How Gerik creates a safe table

Each player who joins my server is required to sign my onboarding document, where I outline all my table/community rules. These cover topics such as behaviors that will not be tolerated, as well as other housekeeping topics. Refusal to sign this document disqualifies players from playing at the table to ensure the safety of all members who do.
