🌜 The Crooked Moon : Folk Horror for D&D (🏳️🌈 friendly!)
Ready to be terrified? Join one of the most haunting campaigns ever created for D&D!
About the adventure
It does, as these things do, start on a train. You board the Ghostlight Express for reasons known only to you. Where you end up is beyond all reason. Welcome to Wickermoor Hollow. The world of Druskenvald is a dark afterlife, a setting filled with restless undead, monsters that hunt the primeval forest, and ancient beings that wrestle for power in the suffocating mists beyond. Movie wise, it most resembles The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Van Helsing, Nosferatu and Jonah Hex. TV series Penny Dreadful set the right tone as well. Books you might reference include Frankenstein, Grimm's Fairy Tales, and the Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

About me
Hey! Thank you for reading up about me! Now that I've run over 700 games for a variety of amazing players, let me just say that I love this job. It has become more of a community of awesome people, and I am all about it. To new people looking for a place to land, you can have as much, or as little, social contact as you want. No one will judge. I've played D&D since I was a little geek in a small town in upstate NY. I now live in a medium sized city in Colorado, and I'm a much larger geek. If there is a roleplaying game out there, I've probably tried it. I keep coming back to D&D, though. D&D is home, the rest were places I visited. Nice to meet you! What I provide my players: 🦸 Hero Worship! I am a big fan of your character, perhaps the biggest! I'm not an adversarial DM. In fact, if you demolish an encounter through planning, strategy or just plain luck I will celebrate with you. My goal is for everyone to have fun, and as long as everyone is having a good time I consider that my DM win. 🌄Interesting people, places and things. Even in pre-fab adventures I adjust the maps, rearrange the encounters and create interactions with NPCs that will make them easier to remember. ☔A Safe Place to Play. I understand and adapt to all sorts of 🏳️⚧️genders/🏳️🌈lifestyles/🎖️experiences/🎨neurodivergencies. They/Was? Perfect. Need some time for your second DID personality to get involved? I got you. Old time military gonk with opinions? Sure thing. Keep my games a safe place for others and all are welcome. Heck, I'm also fluent in typo! 🆕 A landing place for new players. I will take all the time you need to help you learn and find your pace with us. I have never met a player who wasn't super amazing with newer players as well. Be comfortable playing with us. 🗨️ A discord server for your game where you can journal, chat and be social with the other players. 📖 Consistent rules (optional and otherwise) that have been put into place after long discussions with players and other DMs. You will always know where you stand with me. I do NOT mind 🎣, however. If you want to try something new, toss that cheeto on a hook and see if I bite. ⬆️ I update my game accounts often, and you'll have access to my books on my Beyond and all the rules in roll20. I attempt to maintain a large library as well, putting some of the money I make into purchasing new books every month.

Proficiencies
Players say this GM is great at:
Inclusive
Storytelling
Creativity
I am in a couple of Wyrd's games. I really enjoy his NPC's, their personalities draw you in and their reactions to the players feel on brand. Combats feel unique, challenging but with built in mechanics that rewards players for thinking tactically. He does a great job of adapting to the groups vibe, doesn't force RP when it's clear the party is looking to fight while aparty that is looking for more RP will get chances to resolves situations outside of combat. Overall really enjoying my sessions with Wyrd.
I've been playing in Wyrd's games for over a year now and have always had a ton of fun. They're open to creative character ideas, and their homebrew world is incredible. Wyrd is always available to address concerns privately and ensures all players feel welcome and heard. Highly recommend to anyone!
Absolutely the highlight(s) of my week. Wyrd works hard to make his games a collaborative storytelling experience through the fantastic community he's curated and an extensive knowledge of the materials provided. He is one of my first GMs since I started playing TTRPGs a year ago, and I haven't left since. Give him a try!
Character creation
Creating your character
Create your characters ahead of time, all the books will be available to you! 2024 rules (if there's a 2024 version, we'll use that, otherwise 2014 is acceptable) We'll be going from level 1 to 14. Point buy/standard array. Crooked Moon has a lot of very cool species and subclasses to enjoy!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You should have a discord account, and will be joining a game server. We'll be playing on Foundry for all the bells and whistles.
What Wyrd brings to the table
I use Foundry for the best experience. There will be a sound track, voices, and as much ambience as I can muster! We're going for dark, but that doesn't mean there isn't place for subtle humor.
Homebrew rules
My only 'homebrew' rule is that critical misses only happen when rolling at disadvantage, but that counts for all rolls, not just combat.

How Wyrd creates a safe table
Rather than fill up the screen with Content Warnings, I will instead be going over Lines and Veils during session 0. I run a safe space, even when in such a dark world.
