Meet the Game Master
About me
Hey there :) I'm Jhonny (Any Pronouns), and I'm a Professional Dungeon Master running D&D and many other TTRPGs both Online and In-Person for those in the PDX area! I've volunteered at Guardian Games, Gamestorm, Kumoricon, The Paladin's League, and Rose City Comic Con running everything from Adventurer's League to Homebrewed One-Shots. I love getting players into fun and strange adventures, picking up new game systems all the time, and am always looking for my next quest! I've got flexible hours, and I'm always happy to run a free Session Zero to help with character creation, game overview, or just chat if you're looking to run it yourself. I love TTRPGs because no matter who you are, you can just roll the dice and have some fun. Oh and fighting monsters too. OPEN FOR CUSTOM GAMES!!!

I played with some friends and Jhonny was such an amazing DM!! It was our first time doing a paid game so we were nervous, but Jhonny was welcoming and knowledgeable and patient. They made sure we were comfortable, gave us a vivid description of what was going on, and allowed characters and their backstories to shine, even within a short combat-heavy oneshot. I could not recommend them enough and all of us are so excited to play with them again!!
If I could leave more than five stars I would. Its been a VERY long time since I've had such an enjoyable game like this one. 😭💖 Johnny was such a lighthearted cool DM, and molded so quickly to our groups play style and vibe. Speaking on the behalf of the friends I played with, we all felt we had such great fun, and even had our own special moments. I for one am very shy about roleplay (but desperately want to engage)!! This was the first game I've ever played where I felt comfortable enough to do so, without feeling forced into it!! Johnny encouraged with me in an way that didn't feel pushy (and of course roleplay wasn't required, but I made it known that I'm shy and really want to do better!). There were also SO many cool moments that he allowed us to pull off purely because of creativity! I really love that because I'm definitely one of those people that goes wild with spell descriptions and overall using spells NOT as intended haha Genuinely I cannot recommend them enough!! Great story telling, descriptions, and overall friendly vibes! If I were you I'd grab a table soon, becuase I can forsee them becoming very popular 😉
So many things went right in the session I played with Jhonny. They respected my character's backstory that I hadn't shared with them beforehand in the one-shot. Their sense of humour and ability to nudge us towards progressing was first-rate, while still allowing room for player antics. They allowed us a silly ask about countering one maelstrom spell with another casting of it (with the vortex going in the opposite direction to cancel it out). They gave me a freebie by letting me find a ballista in a combat I had to step away from and returned to late so that I could still make an impact. Jhonny also eschewed the underwater rules so that our character choices wouldn't be limited to those that could breathe underwater or be restricted to spears, tridents, and daggers. I highly recommend Jhonny, as they even provided my first positive experience with theatre of the mind gameplay, something I disregarded as being not for me!
Jhonny has a relaxed and welcoming GM style that gives everyone space to express their characters and play their way. They encourage different play styles and make sure each player gets their moment to shine. They know when to push the party forward and add just the right amount of silly humor. Great pacing overall for a one-shot.
Jhonny was fantastic. He GMed a Daggerheart one-shot I played, and it was fantastic. It was my first time playing before I had access to the core rulebook and he made everything accessible and fun. He laid out a challenging adventure, but allowed enough creativity that all the players had major cinematic moments.
Character creation
Creating your character
*DM me for any questions or play materials you'd like ahead of time!* The first part of the game will be dedicated to Character Creation, but you're more than welcome to prep ahead of time. Here's a few options for getting your character ready: 1. Feel free to build your own character using the official Cowboy Bebop Roleplaying Game Character Sheet with a Concept, 5 Traits & a Groove of your choice. You can DM me for the Character Sheet & Beginner's Guide PDF's or download them for free online. 2. Use one of my Premade Character Sheets based off the main cast of the anime. 3. Build your character with the other players at the top of the game (it's super quick and easy)! Tips: - The game is more roleplay oriented, so you can essentially build any type of character you can imagine! - Your Character's Concept is what describes them (Sharpshooter, Gambler, Hacker, etc) - Your Traits are features that describe your character (Big Hair, Cool Suit, Pistol, etc) - Your Groove is a special move from the Cowboy Bebop RPG Core Rulebook
What to expect
Preparing for the session
DM me for an invite to the Discord Server! YOU WILL NEED: A Mic, a Discord account, pencil, paper, and some Dice (a couple of d6's/six-sided dice). Optional: A CowboyBebop RPG Character Sheet, The CowboyBebop RPG Beginner's Guide, and Webcam.
What Jhonny brings to the table
All my sessions are run over Discord, and although I use Video, I do not require it of my players (meaning you can just use Voice Call if you'd prefer). I also use the official COWBOY BEBOP RPG Corerulebook, and can send PDF's of the Beginner's Guide, Premade Character Sheets (based off the main characters from the anime), and a blank Character Sheet to any players who'd like build their character before the session. The beginning of the game everyone will have time alotted for Character Creation. Gameplay wise I often do character voices (I'm not a professional voice actor so apologies in advance), abide by the Rule of Cool in most situations (you know, if it's cool enough), and love to use music (but will turn it off upon request, I'm a DM not a DJ). I always strive for a good balance of Roleplay and Combat, and a tone that ranges from light hearted to intense, but these are ultimately things set by my players. I will never force anyone to roleplay, or adhere to a certain level of seriousness. The point of the game is to have fun, so I encourage whatever style of play as long as we're all having a good time.

How Jhonny creates a safe table
We'll begin the session with a quick briefing on the safety tools I use, review the Consent Checklist, and make any requested additions. Once the game has concluded, time will be provided for any aftercare a player may need upon request. Feel free to suggest/request any additional safety tools at any point before or during the game. I prioritize the comfort of my players above all else.
