About the adventure

Welcome to the Realm of the Mammoth Lords! Lead your fellow hunter-gatherers of the Broken Tusk tribe across primordial lands, face off against dinosaurs and megafauna, and unearth the legendary past of your ancient people. The Broken Tusk’s patron deity is Sister Cinder, goddess of fire and wisdom. Long ago, when the world was shrouded in ash after a great cataclysm, Sister Cinder bestowed a divine light upon the Broken Tusk’s ancestors. The light enabled her followers to cut through the veil of darkness and help restore the world’s natural order, as well as to discern right from wrong. Those who call themselves “Broken Tusks” trace their lineage back thousands of years, though the banner of the Broken Tusk itself—which symbolizes the values of its followers— is fairly new. Six generations ago, a terrible evil crawled from the earth and threatened the land. To stave off this evil, a few rebellious members made a great sacrifice. The other members, feeling betrayed, took their banner with them, forcing the rebels who remained to make a new name and identity for themselves. To symbolize their perseverance in the face of overwhelming odds, the rebels called themselves the Broken Tusk. The schism that led to the creation of the Broken Tusk marked a tragic turning point for the following. Though they persevered, the Broken Tusk now number far fewer than they did in antiquity, and their place in the world isn’t as certain as it once was. Older Broken Tusks use the word ethgir to refer to the era before the schism and syorn to designate the present period. The Realm is a geographic region between the witch-ruled itch-ruled nation of Irrisen to the west and the demon-plagued Sarkoris Scar to the east lacks definable borders. The people of the Realm roam the broad span of tundra and mountains and consider the whole of the natural world their home.

About me

I run story-rich, player-driven adventures. You bring the characters—I’ll bring the world—we will make it ours together. My GM style is relaxed, story-rich, and collaborative. Whether you want kick-down-the-door dungeon crawls, exploration, westmarches, horror, or mysteries in the dark, I’ll tailor the game to your players. One-shots are brisk and punchy, delivering a complete adventure in a single session. Campaigns are dynamic and sandbox-style, shaped by your preferences, backstories, and play style. I’ve run many games and campaigns across a variety of systems: • D&D • Dungeon Crawl Classics • Mutant Crawl Classics • Call of Cthulhu • Traveller, • Top Secret • Shadowdark • Mörk, Cy_Borg, Pirate Borg My shelves are stacked with classics and modern gems alike—I’ve got you covered. If not, I can run it. I’ve run games for everything from bachelor parties to birthday surprises, corporate team-building events to reunions. My tables are welcoming, flexible, and focused on making sure everyone has fun. The best games are forged in shared challenges and the camaraderie that comes with them. Let’s tell some amazing stories together!

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be made on Discord. I will send you and invite to the campaign on Discord. Pre-Made Characters are available on request.

The current party

This is a Play-As-You-Can campaign. Each chapter is run as a mini-campaign. Show up for the chapters you can play. Or play them all...The next session is 23 July...the session will run for 2.5-3 hours. Join with a 1st level character...

What to expect

Preparing for the session

The Theater of the Mind (audio portion of the adventure) will occur on Discord voice chat supplemented by images and battle maps as needed. You will need an account on Discord. Access to the dedicated server will be open prior to the game. Owlbear Rodeo may be used. No subscription is necessary. Characters will be made or provided on Discord. Pre-made characters are always available. Players will make their character during session zero; or, we can make one prior to the game session.

What Mark brings to the table

Decades of Experience running a multitude of games and game systems both for fun and professionally as part of team building operations. Ready access to discuss the campaign, concerns and questions. I will be available through discord to answer questions. Players who need direct assistance can schedule a time to chat directly. Each layer will be provided with a direct and private means of communication. Access to relevant books and rules will be provided. Custom and Curated Battlemaps. Battle maps and tokens will be provided on Owlbear Rodeo. I will also provide maps and images as needed on Discord. NPCs with Motivations, Likes/Dislikes, Personalities, Quirks...no more cardboard standees. Tactical Combat with Roleplay. Official Digitally Produced Adventures by the publishers. Or custom, if you want... Premade Characters are available.

Homebrew rules

All these are optional but most of my players enjoy them: Fleeting luck--it comes and goes but dang is it useful when you have it! Drink a potion as a bonus action...drink it as an action...or drink it in safety. The slower you drink it the better it gets. Critical Hitdecks and Critical Fail decks are used...the ones from Nord Games. Old school character creation can be used...if you do, you get benefits.

SAFETY TOOLS ・During Session 0 we will discuss Lines and Veils. ・A 10 minute break will occur roughly halfway through the session. Additional breaks are always available on request. ・Further details of all tool implementations are provided within the discord server. Feel free to ask any questions for clarification.
