Journey Through Jahxpekt (a custom homebrew campaign)

Journey Through Jahxpekt (a custom homebrew campaign)

Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign

About the adventure

Venture forth into the land of Jahxpekt, a world of extreme and dangerous terrain, wildly diverse nations, and brand new gods, monsters, and playable creatures for you to explore. You will have the chance to explore a world of my creation, and to have a story built specifically for you and your party. The many lands of this world each have very different feels to them, and because of this, a large number of settings are available to best fit your group. Are you a fan of westerns? The vast Uralan wastes are fraught with frontier mining towns with fiendish bands of outlaws. Is swashbuckling more your style? Set sail to Captain's Row, the floating pirate city state. Whatever your taste, there is likely already somewhere in this setting that will fit it, and if not, I am always happy to expand the world. This adventure will be set in my home brew world, but the adventure will be directly built around you and your parties characters. If you are looking for an adventure tailored to you, look no further.

I'm new to play DnD and Heartlock has been amazing at explaining everything as we go. My friends and I are having a blast learning everything and playing our first official campaign.

Despite having played and DM'd D&D for 40 years this is my first experience playing an online game. Admittedly I didn't have high expectations, thinking this could not replace friends around a table top. Thankfully I was wrong. I am typically not a fan of pre-written material as well because It makes for a herded feel and usually does not allow much for character growth. Again, I was wrong. Heartlock made for a very welcome virtual table, when I wasn't familiar with the technology aspect of it he was patient and helpful. He is a very good story teller. 12 or so sessions in despite using a pre-written campaign I feel my character has been able to grow and explore without being herded. When I have done things clearly not counted on he has done well "off the cuff" without losing sight of the story There is a very good flow to the story as well, never a feeling of being stuck. We also have a non-traditional group of characters or dare I say misfits, with different goals and character beliefs and Heartlock has done well to play to all those aspects and keep a sense of balance in the story. Thanks for a great time so far and looking forward to many more great sessions with you.

Heartlock is a very flexible GM. He considers all players' visions for their characters and incorporates them well into his adventures. Moreover, Heartlock is willing to contact players between sessions for personal downtime activities for individual characters. This is a major help and benefit. The pace of the sessions is great and he creates a vivid theater of the mind.

A fantastic and highly talented dungeon master, I have been playing with Heartlock for multiple years. They ran a campaign I took part in for about 3 years that was full of engaging and extremely fun encounters, complete and emotional npc's, and a wonderful story.

How to prepare

All you need is a discord account and a roll20 account. If you prefer pen and paper or a different digital character sheet resource that you use, that works as well, but using Roll20 will make it easier to streamline your skills and abilities.

What I provide

I have years worth of world building baked into this setting, and access to a majority of the D&D 5e books for their rules, character options, and other valuable resources. Please have ready or be prepared to create a free Roll20 account and discord account. Roll20 is where the rolls and visuals will take place, and Discord will be where the voice call during sessions is held.

Gameplay details

During session zero, there will be an explanation of all of the tools we use, and how their use can best be communicated. From there, the tools will go into use in the way the group determines is most effective for them. I am also always open to discussing with every player any potential triggers or concerns that they may have. I'm here to make an enjoyable and safe experience for you, so always feel free to talk to me. Also, as the campaign will be custom to the group, it will be fit to the needs of the group.

Session 0

How will character creation work

Session zero will be a collaborative experience in which a more detailed explanation of the setting will be given, and the group will discuss what kind of adventure they are looking to have. After that, we will begin building your individual characters. This will include discussion of character lineage, class, background, and any backstory work that you might want help with. We'll also work to see if any of the members of the party would know each other before the start of the adventure or not.
