About the adventure

Right in the middle of an awkward high school reunion party, you are suddenly transported into a strange but vaguely familiar forest scene.  In your hands, a glowing magical weapon brings back a flood of memories of old adventures you had long since written off as mere childhood fantasies... Now, someone is shouting, begging you to help a unicorn in trouble.  The sight of your old childhood comrades in their fantastical gear stirs your heart and fills you once again with the magical feeling of adventure, danger, and action-- This adventure returns the grown-up child heroes of the classic '80s Dungeons & Dragons cartoon once again to The Realms.  But you don't need nostalgia to enjoy this quick jaunt into the game of D&D. Starting with these classic pre-existing characters and their powerful magic items lets us jump right into an exciting mini-adventure that anyone can engage with. It's also pretty G-rated so everyone can have some light-hearted fun together, and running just 2 to 3 game sessions long, it's a perfect low-commitment chance to give fantasy tabletop role-playing a try. I think you'll be hooked just as I was so long ago... Give the dice a roll!

About me

Welcome adventurers, and well met! If you're seeking a game where imagination rules and every decision can shape the story, you've come to the right place. As a seasoned Game Master (GM) specializing in "theater of the mind" style Dungeons & Dragons, I blend rich storytelling with dynamic character interactions to create a world that evolves and reacts to your choices and interests. And with a wide variety of real-life experiences in stage acting & directing, historical rapier & dagger fencing, travel, and teaching ESL communications in Japan, I bring a unique blend of knowledge, creativity, and engagement to every game I run. My personal journey from a shy, bookish introvert to a worldly, extroverted entertainer has shaped my approach to game-mastering, where inclusivity and collaboration are at the heart of every session. So together let's explore and quest and weave tales of wonder, heroism, intrigue, mystery, and mischief that will be remembered long after the dice have stopped rolling. Interested in joining a game or learning more? Let’s connect and set the stage for an unforgettable adventure! 〜Jeffrey

It was my first campaign and Jeffrey was helpful for a beginner. He was patient and set up the campaign in a very easy to learn way. Highly recommend!

Jeffrey's NPCs feel very natural, and I do not feel any forced intentions from the GM. The story flows smoothly. Also, there is a lot of humor, so the game is very enjoyable, and I can play with peace of mind. Every time, the time flies by, and I look forward to the next session! I want to have various experiences in the world of D&D. I want to experience daily life in another world and interact with different races. Jeffrey provides these wonderful experiences that can only be found in a fantasy world. When we camp, we scoop water from a stream and cook with dried mushrooms, herbs, and nuts. Choosing what to drink and eat in this other world is a small joy in D&D. One time, I enjoyed cooking and eating with goblins, and a wizard treated me to a special meal. My most precious experience in D&D was talking with the talking tree spirit, "Mack." That night, I woke up protected by Mack's branches and leaves. Mack bent a branch down to the ground to lift me up, covered me with leaves so I could sleep safely, and in the morning, he bent the branch down again to lower me to the ground. I am not interested in fighting; I like challenges that use my mind. Of course, there are situations where fighting cannot be avoided, but even then, having the ability to make choices that do not hurt anyone is part of the fun of the game for me. Unlike ordinary D&D, Jeffrey fulfills my hopes, and so he is my number one DM.

Character creation
Creating your character

Creating characters is fun and interesting, but it's also a little overwhelming and takes a lot of time...  So, in this adventure, we will all use the pre-made characters and jump right into playing the game.  These characters are the classic archetypes from the original Dungeons & Dragons game and cartoon, and they have some unusually powerful magic items that will be fun to play with.  In fact, they have ALL the powers and abilities you may have seen throughout the animated series, which is actually a little "overpowered",  but hey, let's break some stuff!

The current party

This short adventure will run for 2 or 3 weekly sessions using the brand new D&D rules as part of the launch of the exciting new 2024 rulebooks. We are using pre-existing 4th-level characters and already have Eric the Fighter in the party. Join us and play a ranger, barbarian, acrobat, rogue, wizard, or cleric/healer...! 📆 Please note that this game needs a lead time of at least a full 24-hour day to get all the waiting players notified and activated before we can start... Thank you for your understanding and patience. 🙏

What to expect
Preparing for the session

This game is for total beginners. You don't need to prepare anything related to D&D. You WILL need the following basic tech items for the Zoom meeting itself: 🖥️ computer or tablet 💻 🎥 webcam and microphone 🎙️ (laptop or tablet built-ins are fine) 👥 Zoom app (or web interface) I will send you some informational links that you can explore or not, and I will walk you through everything from the first session when we choose from the pre-made characters together. I'll introduce important rules step by step as they become highlighted in the actual gameplay. I won't blast you with them all at once, nor will I leave you completely in the dark. 🎲 It is definitely fun if you can get your hands on a set of those colorful, many-sided dice, but I will send you a link to some free, easy-to-use virtual online dice if you can't. Optionally, if you hate math and just want your character sheet to do all the work for you autofilling, rolling digital dice, and calculating as you roll, you can open a free D&D Beyond account. You automatically gain access to everything in the free basic ruleset, and you can claim the pre-made character of your choice! And that's it. You're ready to roll!
