About the adventure
This is a brief Call of Cthulhu scenario where the investigators are able to get a feel for the mechanics of the game and is friendly for both beginners and returning players. This comes out of Petersen's Abominations by Sandy Petersen and Mike Mason.

About me
I am big on roleplay and narrative play, so I love when people are engaged and thinking creatively. Even if it goes against the rules, I want to help you find a way to do it. In any system I run, I'm big on teaching people to play and enjoy it as much as I do. I'm happy to run for groups of friends, random players or even do events. You can also find me on the east coast appearing at cons to run games like Call of Cthulhu and Dungeons and Dragons 5e.

I've played two Call of Cthulhu games with Trap: "Blackwater Creek" and "The Derelict". Both were fun and scary, as well as beginner friendly. He lets you re-roll "1"s when determining your starting luck, which is nice, since luck is the valuable resource in these types of games. Definitely someone I'd recommend for those who want to dip their toes into the waters of CoC, or if you're just looking to have some fun. On a personal note, the two sessions I did with Trap were actually the third and fourth CoC games I've played, but I still learned a lot from him. I feel more confident about joining a full-fledged CoC campaign in the future.
Obviously Trap gets 5/5. I played Call of Cthulhu with a handful of people, and at least two of us were new to the system. Trap was patient with pre-gen character selection, kind about rule explanation, and a great story teller. He's fun to play with, laughs easily, and just as easily makes you question your sanity as eldritch horrors from beyond time arise (or descend, or appear) and crush your dreams of a peaceful sleep. There is a lot of room for roleplay and Trap makes sure to get everyone involved to the level they are comfortable. Trap seems like a genuinely good person who runs a fun game. What more could you ask for?
I had a terrific time doing a Call of Cthulhu one shot! I would highly recommend for beginners and experienced players alike! We worked the story within the time frame and had music to set the atmosphere. Player characters were given the opportunity to mold the story and although our investigators didn't make it out I had a great time!
Character creation
Creating your character
Pre-generated characters will be provided, if you want to create a character it must be done prior to the start of the session, if you need assistance creating a character beforehand, please reach out so we can do it together.
The investigators are a team of external observers called in to conduct an audit and report on an experimental drilling project designed to penetrate the earth's crust and release a previously untapped source of energy called "Rolot Gas" after it's discoverer Dr. Simon Roylott. The project, being conducted on a repurposed North Sea oil platform, falls under the auspices of the United Kingdom government and is classified top secret.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Make sure that your microphone and internet connection are working, a laptop or computer that is able to run both discord and a browser window is necessary. If you have any technical difficulties beforehand, please reach out to me and we can see what we can do.
What Trap brings to the table
I will be using a VTT for this session. There aren't many maps so there's not going to be much outside of some music to suit the occasion.
Platforms used
Safety
How Trap creates a safe table
There will be a trigger warnings checklist required by each player before the game begins. If that is not filled out, you will not be allowed to play. Working connected microphone is required, if that cannot be done please reach out to see what can be accommodated.
