About Eli

I’m an easy-going, fun-having, pun-loving GM. I’ve been playing and running games since 2016. You'll probably find a lot of OTDND (Other Than Dungeons and Dragons) content here. One of my favorite things is playing new games with new friends. Maybe one day I'll run out of games to play and people to meet, but it's not today.

How Eli runs games

Some things I believe in as a GM: 🔦 Sharing the spotlight: I focus on character driven adventures and role-play forward stories. I want you to engage with the game in a way that makes the most sense to you. 🦺 Creating a safe place: I want you to feel the confidence to take a chance with your role-playing and combat. Branch out, try something new! See what happens! My table is welcoming and inclusive. This means you: 🏳️‍⚧️, 🏳️‍🌈, and all colors, shapes, and beliefs. 🏆 Fun comes first: Sure, your character might die or go insane (or both) but at least you can have fun doing it! If we’re not having fun at least most of the time, then I’m doing something wrong. Games will be run either on Owlbear Rodeo or in the Theater of the Mind. Whatever platform we play on, we will use Discord for voice and video. Dice rolls can be on the VTT, Discord, the physical realm, or some other place that you can think of. A warning: I do voices. Poorly and enthusiastically. Can I always keep track of which NPC has which voice? No. Will every accent eventually turn into Russian or French? Probably.

Fun people doing fun things. Taking chances, kicking names. Long periods of levity punctuated by eldritch horrors. We are adults participating in role-playing games. Emphasis on "role" and "playing" and "game". Respect your fellow players, but don't take it to seriously. You know what I mean?

I love it when a player

becomes their character. Maybe they have a voice. Maybe they make decisions that the player might not make, but the character would. They take a chance on an action or a situation and they revel in the consequences, regardless of what they are.
