🦇Curse of Strahd🦇D&D 2024🎲Free Session 0
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign
About the adventure
"But this is not a time for heroes. Look instead to those battered souls who have known fear and failure in ample portion, but rise again to reclaim a glimmer of hope." This should be in the mind of any player hoping to survive the grim world of Curse of Strahd. Count Strahd von Zarovich has taken an interest in the characters, and his idea of fun involves making their lives as miserable as possible. Barovia is a dark and unforgiving land, and the mists are always lurking. Will the characters crumble under the weight of it all, or can they find a way to turn the tide? It’s not a campaign for everyone, but I’ve run it multiple times, and every single player had a blast. It’s consistently one of their top D&D experiences, and mine as well. Curse of Strahd is one of the best modules out there. I’ve been a Dungeon Master for it more than a dozen times, and the reason it’s so great is because it’s a massive sandbox. No two games are ever the same. My style as a DM lets the players take charge, because it’s their choices that shape the world around them. I create the setting, but how the characters move through it is up to them. My job is to react to their actions and let them drive the story forward. Roleplaying is key in my campaigns. Sometimes, we’ll have entire sessions with little to no combat, just players interacting with NPCs and diving deep into the story. When combat does come up, I keep it fast and engaging, always adding descriptions to bring the world to life. I don’t mind a little chaos with the dice, because the story they tell is what makes it interesting, whether it’s a win or a loss. Above all, I want everyone to feel safe and comfortable. Dungeons & Dragons is meant to be an escape, a fun and creative space where we can all have a good time. I also love handing out magical items, because nothing feels better than seeing a player’s eyes light up when they get something powerful to show off. This campaign is great for new players, though if you’ve played it before, feel free to reach out and we can chat about what’s in store! I hope you’ll join us for an adventure you won’t forget, one that will leave everyone smiling. The Art on the listing was created by Evangeline Gallagher: https://www.evangelinegallagher.com/
Game style
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Session 0 is free! On session 0 we will discuss the ins and out of the campaign, explain how the cooking mechanics work and roll for our group array that everyone will share. Party composition as well as creating our characters will also happen on session 0. Gameplay begins with session 1.

Additional details
How to prepare
All players need to have a working mic and a stable internet connection. Webcam is not necessary but always appreciated (it's nice to see the faces of the people you're talking to). Everyone should have a basic understanding of the rules, of course they will be assisted if they don't remember something. Roll20 as well as Discord account are necessary. A Syrinscape account is needed as well.
What I provide
I have a Pro account on Roll20, as well as all core rulebooks that I can share with my players.
Gameplay details
On Session 0 we will discuss the rulings we will follow (for example vote if we want flanking or not), introduce ourselves, decide on the party composition and go over the way the campaign works. We will roll for stats, but everyone will use the array we roll. If the rolls are bad we will go with point-buy/standard array for all. Players get a free feat at level 1. This game contains themes of obsession and stalking as well as madness. It uses the "X, N and O" cards as macro on Roll20. Players can expect a fast paced and rules light gaming experience.

How will character creation work
Players will start from level 1 and progress to level 10 in the span of this campaign. Each player should have a general idea of what character they'd like to play and then we will make the concept a reality together. Characters will be created at Session 0. We are going to be using the 2024 rulebooks and monsters.
