Eberron: Cutlass & Cantrip
High seas adventure in Eberron! Hunt for plunder, power, and purpose as perils rise from beneath the waves!
About the adventure
Welcome to Eberron! In the aftermath of the Last War, the seas of Eberron are once again comparatively safe and ripe with opportunity. No region in the continent of Khorvaire boasts better sailors and sturdier fleets than the Lhazaar Principalities, a loose confederation of island-states ruled by a variety of Sea Princes -- all of whom maintain their authority by ship, sword, and spell. Perhaps you are a scion of seafaring merchants, or a wandering soul in search of a life of freedom, or a wanted fugitive evading the law -- regardless, the anarchy of the Principalities holds myriad chances for liberty, riches, and peril in equal measure. β Join a crew and ship out for the plunder of the open seas! π π Hunt treasure and sea monsters, or turn your vessel toward true piracy! β οΈ β΅ Evade the naval forces sent to hunt you down, or confront them blade to blade! βοΈ π Explore the mysteries of the isles and search for the lost troves of pirates who came before! π΄ββ οΈ

Meet the Game Master
About me
I've been running games for twenty-odd years now and enjoy every minute of it! I run narrative-heavy, character-focused adventures in almost any setting. My games are safe, inclusive, intersectional, and tend toward homebrew storylines in dynamic worlds. I love taking players on an emotionally compelling journey that gives them a chance to affect the world their characters inhabit. I always enjoy having people contribute to an ongoing narrative as we build a story together.

Proficiencies
Players say this GM is great at:
Storytelling
Creativity
Inclusive
By far one of the best GMs I've ever played with, the epitome of 'you get back what you give' in terms of investment, engagement, creativity, etc. I've rarely had the luxury of playing with someone who is as invested in my character's story as I am, and who goes the extra mile in making that story so intertwined into the wider story of the campaign.
I can't possibly say enough good things about Jack's storytelling style and his amazing ability to include everybody. He is amazing at voices and does a wonderful job pulling quieter players into the narrative. He is able to set a beautiful scene and really paint a wonderful picture with his descriptions.
Jack is a great storyteller and does a great job setting scenes, engaging with players and encouraging roleplay. He does his best to make sure all his players are comfortable with game themes and to voice concerns should anything in game cause a player discomfort or distress. Wish I could choose more tags, Jack is always up for allowing players to attempt creative and unconventional solutions to in game scenarios.
Jack G. is a wonderful DM! So far, the game sessions have been focused on Storytelling / Role Playing / Exploring with Combat in places that make sense (not just random to be random or forced to fit in a formula, such as: βX number per session regardless of whatβs happening!β). 1. Setting Knowledge We are playing in the Eberron Setting (5e.2024) and he understands the setting extremely well, to the point of providing small details that make our βEberron: The Claws of Droaamβ exciting to experience. 2. Rules Knowledge From what I can tell, he is well versed in the 5e (β14 & β24) rules, and works with the players so the whole Table understands them. 3. Tech Knowledge From what Iβve experienced, he works well with Discord (audio & video), DNDBeyond, and Roll20. The minor issues that have popped up have been handled deftly and as quickly as possible so the story flows as smoothly as possible. 4. Table Environment A safe space for all who donβt harbor bigotry & hate. 5. Player Interactions He leans into what makes the game interesting for the players - backgrounds, play style, etc. He wants us to get as much fun & joy out of our sessions as possibleβ¦ all while building a strong story with us. He provides a table where we can create a wonderful & well developed story that can create great gaming memories for all.
Character creation
Creating your character
Character concepts and party composition will be discussed on Discord prior to Session 0 as part of the preparation. The GM can assist with the character creation process as needed. Characters will begin at level 1 and use the point-buy or standard array method during creation. Players can either build their character in the Roll20 game or use the Beyond20 extension to use a D&DBeyond character sheet for gameplay.
** NEW JOINERS WELCOME ** A weekly campaign (currently at level 7) exploring the dangers on the eastern seas -- join our Discord and let's get going! DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE! Multiple Game Discount: Any player signed up for a non-discounted seat in three or more separate active campaigns with this GM will have each of those 3+ seats discounted by $5 on an ongoing basis. Recruitment Discount: If any player signed up for a non-discounted seat recruits a new player to join the campaign also at a non-discounted price, both players will have that seat discounted by $5 on an ongoing basis.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Webcam and mic will be required and players are encouraged to begin familiarizing themselves with the rules of play prior to Session 0. The game will be fully online and physical dice will not be used. All players will need an active free Roll20 account to access the game and to create their character sheets there. Players will also need to provide some sort of character art for their character token on the battlemap.
What Jack G. brings to the table
Access to the Roll20 VTT, a D&DBeyond campaign entry, Eberron setting lore, and all the other ingredients of an immersive narrative will be provided. Digital resources like maps and tokens will be available for gameplay. I also offer a Discord text channel to facilitate group communications in addition to the video chat for game sessions!

How Jack G. creates a safe table
A Content & Consent Survey will be provided and must be completed before Session 0. Every game will have a break partway through and a debrief sequence to conclude. Players can expect a game with somewhat streamlined combat and plenty of social twists and turns. I utilize milestone experience at narratively-thematic moments for the players.
